Auction description:

Lot 94

1972 Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster

33,900 credible miles

Estimate: £70,000 - £80,000

Registration No:MMY789L

Chassis No:1S1440BW

One of just 1,872 right-hand drive Series 3 Roadsters made, 'MMY 789L' is fitted with automatic transmission and shows a credible 33,900 miles to its odometer. The vendor informs us that he has spent more than £40,000 on the E-Type over the last four years including a full repaint, interior retrim plus engine work. This charismatic Big Cat is now being sold complete with history file and is currently described by the vendor as having 'excellent' engine, transmission, interior, paintwork and bodywork. The perfect cruiser for next summer.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
