Car to be at auction 6/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/526012
Auction description:
1972 Jaguar E-Type S3 V12 Roadster
Estimate: £40,000-50,000
From a deceased estate; current owner 15 years; only 31,200 miles from new; 5-speed manual gearbox; factory hard top; new stainless steel exhaust system; recent new hood and interior retrim; large history file
First registered in November 1972, this Jaguar E-Type V12 Roadster has been in the current ownership since 2006, our vendor buying it from a gentleman in Epsom (a Sunday Times photographer) who had owned it since 1988. It comes with a large history file extending back to the early 1980s which shows that it has been well-looked-after, including 30 old MOTs from 1979 – 2018 to show that the current mileage of 31,223 is almost certainly correct.
Fitted with a 5-speed manual gearbox at some point, it has a factory hard top and rides on wire wheels shod with a good set of Dunlop 205/70/15 tyres which were fitted in 2012 at c.30,000 miles.
In 2020 it had a complete brake overhaul including four new calipers, all new pads (including handbrake) and new braided stainless steel hoses. A new stainless steel exhaust system (including fantail) was also fitted in the same year. In 2015 the interior was retrimmed with a new set of black carpets, new black leather seat covers, diaphragms and seat foams (including headrests). A new hood has also been recently fitted.
Aside from routine service items, other new parts in recent years include: electronic fuel pump; distributor conversion kit; exhaust manifolds; cam cover gaskets; clutch master cylinder; brake servo; power steering belts and high pressure hoses; all new coolant and heater hoses; heater matrix; wiper motor; electric fan switch and relay; radiator grille; mohair hood cover etc.
On offer here from a deceased estate, the last MOT expired in May 2019 with no advisories recorded since when it has only covered a handful of miles (in fact it has not had any advisories for the last 15 years at least). Bidders are advised that there are several fluid leaks which could do with investigating before it is driven on the roads although it has started promptly and run nicely as we have moved it around on site, with good 70psi oil pressure. It also comes with an original owner’s handbook and factory workshop manual, original wiring diagram and maintenance chart.
