Ebay item 4/28/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Series-II-1968-Jaguar-XKE-Series-II-Roadst ...
Current bid $15,000 reserve not met, 1 bid 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
This is an all original 1968 Jaguar, E Type, 6 cylinder, Series 2 Roadster with 43,976 original miles – VIN 311R8617. My mother is the car’s second owner, having bought it as her baby in 1972 with 2500 miles. She rarely drove it and lovingly protected and maintained it. It has spent very few nights under the stars, and has never been driven in mud or salt. Because my mom is now in her 70’s, this car is very rarely driven and the family feels it is time for it to go to a new owner who will love and appreciate it. This car is in Wichita, Kansas.
It is totally original except for the paint job that was done in 1978. There are no dings or dents in the body. The paint is blemished in two places, on the bonnet there is a small patch of crazes/scratches, right front, and on the left louver, there are three to four bubbles which, is not due to rust, but occurred with the 1978 paint job shown in the photos, which in fact, look much worse than they really are. The car’s chrome is in fantastic shape also.

The interior is immaculate. The dash has no cracking or splits and the seats are in perfect condition, showing only normal creases for their age but no cracks or splits. The leather covering the console is worn a bit, but again no cracks or holes. The only blemish to the carpet/floorboard is on the driver’s side where there is a hole worn through due to foot placement when driving. All gauges work properly. The convertible top is without rips or tears – there is a small tear in the cover for the top that could be easily repaired.

Mechanically the car is excellent. As you can see, my dad took one photo of the speedometer when he had the car up to 95 MPH – he said stopping at that speed was his idea not the cars! Original tools, jack and manuals are all and there as is a complete gasket replacement kit, for future use as needed. The Michelin tires show little wear and its AM/FM radio works great.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
