1969 JAGUAR 4.2L S2 E-TYPE ROADSTER: all original..... miles: 43035
JAGUAR-DAIMLER HERITAGE TRUST CERT # 1843
Vin: 1r10988 Engine: 7r8057-9 Body: 4r5408 Gearbox: ke9304
Car was built Oct. 8, 1969, dispatched to British Leyland Mtrs., Inc. New York on Oct. 31, 1969
Car has gone through a complete rotisserie restoration......Every nut and bolt was addressed....Car is basically brand new,....it has new floors boards, crossmember, inner and outer sills on drivers side, forward and aft close panels, sill supports, transmission covers and tunnel. All body parts supplied by Martin Robey from England.
New light weight fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, re-built carbs, new light weight Howe radiator w/fan, completely rebuilt 4.2l engine, 4speed transmission, rear end, starter, alt., ignition wires, plugs, water pump, hoses, belts, new a/c lines, new heater box, fan motor and coil, hyd. bottles, heat shield, stainless steel headers & piping, new shocks, coil overs, new willwood brake system & stainless steel lines, new mud and stone guards, new lucas electrical harnesses throughout, new relays, battery, control boxes, and etc. etc....
New interior, new paint, steering wheel, windshield, dash pad, new retro sound radio and speakers w/ipod hookup...the list goes on and on....All new or re chromed front/rear bumpers and overrides, new bonnet chrome, chrome around windshield, doors and top were reused. Chrome on outer/upper doors have some scratches but look ok. The underside is completely amazing. New under coating in rear wheel wells. I reused the rear tail lights so they are orginal and could use replacement but really look ok.
The Car is painted triple black....as the pictures show it is beautiful....paint has some small rock chips on the undersides of sills. Colorado mountain roads are at fault. Paint spots have been touched up with matching paint pen. There are two other spots around windshield that been touched up also due to the new windshield installation. Both side door glasses are new also. The clearcoat shows some light abrasions but it really looks great, see the pictures. The interior is beige (biscuit) w/a black leather center console including leather seats with black piping. Seat are completely rebuilt with new horse hair and foams. New seat belts, ashtray, leather shifter but the dash is all orginal. Orginally the interior was solid beige and the car was sable. If you know what color sable looks like, you understand why I couldnt paint the car back to that ugly turd color. The wire wheels are powder coated black w/ new chrome knock offs making this jaguar one of a kind. The convertible top is brand new. The boot has new black trunk boards w/beige (biscuit) center and side covers. There is a spare wheel but no tire. Tires have lots of tread left on them.
I have put about 950 miles on the car since restored and just completed a fresh oil and filter change. I kept the rpms down and the speed under 60mph to break in the motor. It cruises along at 30 psi oil pressure. I have worked out almost all of the bugs over the summer and the only thing left to do is install the heater resistor, a/c condensor and service the a/c to operate. All the a/c electrical wiring, hoses, compressor are installed and ready to go. The condensor is pictured, not installed but included in the sale. I didnt have a need for the heat or the a/c here in Colorado. Every thing works on the car but the clock, the clock also has cracked glass. The fuel gauge functions but with the tank full it sometimes indicates full, 1/2 and 1/4. The guage does burn down to zero whereever is starts from and the low fuel light works. All other guages work and are in original condition.
I have the orginal 1969 phillips radio and speakers. The radio will not receive. I couldnt find anyone to fix it. Have a picture of the radio and it is included with the sale.
The carbs will need to be adjusted unless you plan to use the car at 7000 to 9000 ft. above sea level. Due to E-type's normally running warm, the alitutde here in Colorado the radiator fan is installed to draw air in and through the radiator. I have replaced the standard 195 thermostat with a 165. Also, I have installed a on/off fan switch for the radiator on the center console. The switch looks completely standard and replaces the last switch on the right of the center console. That last switch is not used for anything on a roadster.
**** Some of the Pictures *****of car within this ad are taken before the retro sound radio was installed, before the top was installed and before radiator fan was moved to the front. I will not end the auction early unless cash or cashier check is in hand....
