At the time inspected in 2016, this 1969 Jaguar XKE Convertible represented an average overall example of this classic late sixties British sports car. It was inspected at Beverly Hills Classic Car Club in east Los Angeles.
This '69 E-Type Convertible is in need of an expensive, ground up professional restoration.
This '69 E-type - just standing appeared to be rust free. However, once elevated on the lift, it displayed rust holes in the floor big enough to get your fist through.
The soft top is in need of replacing. The exterior paint job was just OK.
The inside of this vehicle was in need of a complete professional re-upholstering. Everything was bad, and the steering wheel had almost completely disintegrated. Under the hood, the engine compartment was extremely, dirty, grimy and greasy.
The VIN that should have been stamped on the front of the picture frame, had been completely ground off, in my opinion fairly recently!
This automobile started-up easily, and with no signs of any tell-tale smoke being emitted from the exhaust. I did indeed take it for a short test drive. During that test drive this vehicle seemed to drive well, going through the gears the clutch appeared to work well, the brakes stopped the car efficiently in a straight line and no noticeable play was detected in the steering.
All additional equipment, in this case the air conditioning system, power locks, power seat, power windows operated well, as did the stereo system.
