Ebay item 2/1/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $5,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. 52579 miles

Sellers description:
1969 Jaguar XKE Roadster
This car belongs to my father, and I'm selling it on his behalf. He bought the car in 1998. The person he bought it from claimed the miles are original, but we cannot stand by that. We're selling the car because my father has had some serious financial hardship, and cannot keep the vehicle.

The body is in great shape, with no rust showing or apparent. There was some rust in the rear quarters that was professionally repaired by a very reputable restoration shop in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. I'll be glad to provide you with their number, should you have any questions about the car I can't answer. The whole car was painted when the rust was fixed. The paint is the original Signal Red color, and looks wonderful. There is no orange peel or any other surface inperfections that usually occur when painting red. The chrome is all original. There is some light surface swirls on some of the chrome, but is in wonderful condition given the year. The interior is original, and is in great shape. Someone along the way added the speakers on either side of the center console, but is otherwise original.

The electronics seem to be fine in the car, and almost everything works pretty much as it should. The radio volume is a little scratchy, and could probably use some work. The clock is also currently not working, but most other items I could think to check worked fine. The car has been sitting a while, and I had it professionally cleaned and serviced. It has had a recent oil change and lube, and has had some gaskets changed out to stop an oil leak. The clutch master cylinder was also re-built. All three carbs were also re-built. The engine is a little cranky on a cold start (which seems to be VERY common with this era of Jaguar cars), but once it is warmed up, it runs great. The transmission shifts fine and the clutch is strong. It's a very fun little car to drive.

The trunk is clean, and a wire wheel spare is intact and in great shape. The tires are all fairly new, and are in good shape, too. There is no hard top included with this car.

Overall, this is a fun little vehicle. It has it's eccentricities, as would be expected from a car that is 35+ years old (which I've addressed above- takes a bit to start when very cold, scratchy radio volume, non-functioning clock), but is in great condition. This car could probably be driven wherever you wanted to take it, but I would strongly recommend covered or protected transport to help maintain the paint, and to assure there aren't any other problems. The car is currently garaged in Osage Beach, Missouri. I live in St. Louis, Missouri, but if a serious buyer wanted to try to view the car, I would be willing to try make accomodations to make it happen.
