This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II roadster that was built on August 5, 1969 and acquired by the seller in May 2021, reportedly from its second owner of 49 years who kept it in storage. The car is finished in light blue with a blue soft top over dark blue leather upholstery and is equipped with a 4.2L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. This XKE project is offered with a Jaguar Production Record Trace Certificate and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in light blue, the car is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. Features include a blue soft top, a vented and forward opening clamshell-type bonnet, driver-side mirror, US-market side markers, and chrome bumpers. The dual exhaust mufflers have been removed. The seller notes dents and areas of rust.
The 15” wire wheels feature Jaguar-stamped knock-off hubs and are mounted with older 185-section Michelin red-banded tires. Independent suspension is independent consists of double wishbones up front and a removable steel-crossmember housing the rear control arms. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard rear units.
The cabin is trimmed in dark blue leather with matching door panels and carpets. The car is fitted with an air-conditioning system as well as a Philips AM/FM radio. Deterioration and weathering is noted on the leather, carpets, and door panels. The driver’s door card is missing.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer while auxiliary gauges are located in the center of the dashboard. The speedometer is said to have been replaced under previous ownership and the removed unit accompanies the vehicle. The five-digit odometer shows 775 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six features twin Stromberg carburetors and was factory rated at 246 horsepower. The car has not been started or driven under current ownership and will require service before attempting to do so.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox and a rear differential housing the inboard brake rotors.
Photos showing tags and stampings on the engine and bodywork can be seen in the gallery. Engine block, body, transmission and frame numbers match ones listed on the Production Record Trace Certificate. It lists the factory colors, drivetrain numbers, and an August 5, 1969 build date.
