This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II 2+2 coupe that is finished in Light Blue over a matching interior. Power is from the numbers-matching 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six, which is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. The current owner purchased the car in 2004 and commissioned a repaint in the factory color three years later. Between 2008 and 2009, overhauls of the engine, gearbox, suspension, and brakes were carried out by Classic Jaguar in Austin Texas, and a new Suffolk & Turley interior was also installed. An R134 A/C system has been added along with upgraded torsion bars, urethane bushings, and a set of Wilwood front brakes. A friend of the current owner is assisting with the sale, and this Series II XKE is now offered with records dating back to 2004, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clear Texas title.

Advanced Restorations in Huffman, Texas refinished the body in the factory color between 2007 and 2008. A few imperfections have since accumulated, including some scrapes on the front valence and around the right-side front repeater. A loose driver-side chrome window surround and bent front grille are noted by the seller.

The 15” wire wheels come wrapped in a set of modern Pirelli radials, and a matching spare resides below the rear compartment. An upgraded brake system from Classic Jaguar has been installed, which utilizes drilled and vented front rotors, aluminum 4-piston Wilwood front calipers, and braided stainless hoses.

The cabin was re-trimmed by Classic Jaguar in 2008 with a kit from Jaguar upholstery specialists, Suffolk & Turley in the United Kingdom. An under-dash A/C system and modern Sanden compressor have also been installed. An aftermarket wood-rimmed wheel has been added. 71k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer.

The 4.2-liter inline-six and 4-speed gearbox were overhauled by Classic Jaguar in 2009, at which point a Ron Davis aluminum radiator, upgraded A/C compressor, and stainless exhaust were installed. A service in late 2018 included fluid changes for the engine and gearbox, as well as the installation of a refurbished radiator fan from XKs Unlimited. Engine block stamping 7R 37090-9 is shown above and matches the original data plate and the included Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.

Replacement front torsion bars, urethane bushings, and Spax shocks have been fitted. A few minor oil leaks are present, and the seller notes that starter solenoid occasionally sticks if the car sits for an extended period of time.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows that this car left the factory on October 7, 1969 finished in Light Blue over a Dark Blue interior.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
