1963 JAGUAR E-TYPE 3.8 LITER SERIES 1 COUPE
Silver Blue with Navy Blue leather interior, approximately 1,000 miles since complete restoration in the later 1990’s of an original 63,000 mile example, 4 speed manual synchro transmission fitted from a later 4.2 liter during restoration. Previously part of the Robert Hood collection it was restored by John Swaisland in the late 1990’s. The E-Type Coupe is an original left-hand drive model originally supplied to the United States. It is a past concour winner at various California Jaguar meetings and comes complete with original tool kit and factory jack. Exceptional throughout must be seen to be appreciated.

Additional info from the above auction:
1963 Jaguar E-Type 3.8-Liter Series I Coupe~
Chassis no. J64889695

Introduced in 3.8-Liter form in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type caused a sensation when it appeared, with instantly classic lines and 140mph-plus top speed. Its design owed much to that of the racing D-Type: a monocoque tub forming the main structure, while a tubular spaceframe extended forwards to support the engine. The latter was the 3.8-Liter, triple-carburettor, ‘S’ unit first offered as an option on the XK150. An optimistic 265bhp was claimed, but whatever the installed horsepower, the E-Type’s performance did not disappoint. High perfomance was acheived firstly, because it weighed approximately 500lb (227kg) less than the XK150 and secondly, because aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer applied experience gained with the D-Type to create one of the most elegant and efficient shapes ever to grace a motor car. Although conceived and developed as an open sportscar, the Jaguar E-Type debuted at the Geneva Salon in March 1961 in Coupe form. Aerodynamically, the Coupe was superior to the Roadster and the better Grand Tourer, enjoying as it did a marginally higher top speed and the considerable convenience of a generously sized luggage platform accessed via the side-hinged rear door. This Series I Coupe was acquired by Robert Hood in November 1991 and restored by John Swaisland later in the 1990s. A left-hand drive model supplied new to the United States, the car is finished in blue with matching leather interior and displays a total of 63,215 miles on the odometer. Offered with toolkit and State of California title deed, this car is a past concours winner at various Jaguar Owners’ Club meets as well as achieving 1st place in points scored at the South Western U.S. event and 2nd place nationally while owned by Mr. Carroll Whitney.
