Ebay item 6/6/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1963-Jaguar-XKE-3-8-Coupe-CA-Matching-Numb ...
Current bid $6,100 reserve not met, 9 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
For most of the past 17 years it has been stored inside and driven very little, covering just 300 miles during that time.
The last time it was driven on the road was approximately 3 years ago. Since then the gas has gone bad. The engine fires and will run on ether (starting fluid) and has excellent oil pressure, no smoke and sounds very healthy. The fuel system needs a thorough draining and cleaning. The brake and clutch hydraulics are functional, but will no doubt also need attention before being road worthy.
This XKE was originally delivered with the ultra desirable color combination of black with tan leather. It has been re sprayed in white, and the interior done in brown vinyl. The seats are decent but the rest is poorly done. The console was covered in vinyl, and the center dash was sprayed black. Engine compartment frame rails and the trunk area are still original black paint.
It is a matching numbers car. Here is the original factory stamped data plate, and the "J 63" tag confirming original delivery destination of California. (Only California delivery Jaguars were fitted with the tag.)
The paint is fairly dull, but would shine with a good buff, and would be marginally acceptable for a driver level car.
The chrome is nice and straight. Most of it is shiny, but has some fogginess.
Both tail light bodies are smooth with no pits.
The original wheels still have very nice chrome. Michelin XH tires have about 85% tread left.
The spare is brand new.
This Jag is nice and original underneath.
All original panels, no patches, just factory sheet metal.
There is a small pin hole in the driver's floor, most likely due to improper jacking on the floor at one of the channels. The floor is totally solid. The body is excellent overall.
This XKE has never been in an accident, so the gaps are still excellent. There are a couple of small dings down the sides.
The lift and right rockers, both original. The are some minor bubbles on the right side.
The rear chrome window trim and the lower windshield trim are missing. The rest of the trim is original and present. The original headliner is nice, the sunvisors are a little warped...
If you are looking for a good solid Series 1 XKE coupe, this is your car. It needs a few hours of work to be a driver. It's a very desirable matching numbers Series 1.
