Auction description:
1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Roadster
RM | Sotheby's - PARIS 5 FEBRUARY 2020
Chassis No. 877306
Engine No. R5536-9
Lot Number 191 Did not sell.
Beautifully presented in its original colours
Retains its original engine
Mechanically sorted and ready to be enjoyed
Manufactured on 10 May 1962 and dispatched just two weeks later, on 24 May, this stunning Series 1 E-Type 3.8-Litre Roadster is presented now as it was when delivered. It was specified in the eye-catching colour of Opalescent Silver Blue over a dark blue interior and blue hood, and its first owner, JD Hirsh, ordered the car via Jaguar Cars New York.
While much of its early history is not known, this E-Type Roadster made its way to Europe and resided for an extended period with an owner in Luxembourg. At some point the car was repainted red. It was acquired by the consignor from a well-known collector in Luxembourg three years ago, and he appointed the specialists at Carrozzeria Sports Car in Modena, Italy, to undertake a return to its original colour, as detailed by its accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate. In addition, the mechanics have been checked and addressed where needed by a Jaguar specialist in Modena, and it is said to run and drive beautifully.
Stunning in its original colour scheme, this car was made for the open road, and it is ready to take on any journey the new owner has planned.
