Ebay item 8/3/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-Convertible-/371402403335
Current bid US $25,100 reserve not met 4 bids 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar 3.8 Litre E Type Roadster. A solid running and driving original example of the highly desirable covered headlamp E Type. The car was comprehensively restored 20 years ago by a highly regarded shop in the Seattle area. The quality of the restoration was excellent but after 20 years the car exhibits normal signs of usage such as minor paint chips, wear and tear, etc. As the car was rarely driven the last 10 years or so it could use a complete service/tune and fresh tires as the Avon tires currently fitted have good tread but should be replaced due to age. The interior is very good in all respects and the mohair soft top is excellent, as well as the boot cover. The body and paint is generally good along with the chrome trim. A small amount of corrosion is evident in the LH lower outer sill as pictured. The engine block and head numbers match the factory VIN tag and the car is currently fitted with a later model, full syncro E Type gearbox which enhances driveability. This car is a great opportunity to acquire the highly desirable covered headlamp E Type at a #3 price to drive and enjoy as is, then bring the car to the next level in the future.

This 1962 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on March 17, 1962, and delivered new to Burbank Sport Cars in California. The car reportedly received a refurbishment in 1992 and was acquired by the current owner in 2003. It is finished in Cream over red leather and powered by a numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a replacement four-speed synchromesh manual transmission. Features include a retractable black soft top, triple SU carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, glass headlamp covers, and a Pioneer cassette stereo. Work performed in January 2021 is said to have included overhauling the brake system. This XKE roadster is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Washington state title.
Finished from the factory in Cream, the car was reportedly repainted approximately 30 years ago. Equipment includes a black soft top, chrome-finished bumpers, glass headlamp covers, a louvered hood, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes rust in the rocker panels and battery tray. Paint chips are present on the driver-side of the car, and the condition of the finish and trim can be viewed up close in the gallery below.
Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear Avon Radial Steel tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, which were reportedly overhauled in January 2021.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in red leather along with matching door panels and carpets. Features include silver trim, lap belts, Jaguar-branded rubber floor liners, and a Pioneer cassette stereo linked to kick panel-mounted Alpine speakers.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and an analog clock. Auxiliary gauges are present in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles, 2,500 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors and polished valve covers. Output was factory rated at 265 horsepower.
Engine block stamping R4359-9 matches the number displayed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
The replacement four-speed manual transmission was reportedly sourced from a later-model E Type and features full synchronization.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust production record trace certificate shows a completion date of March 17, 1962, factory colors, drivetrain serial numbers, and delivery to Burbank Sports Cars.
