1961 Jaguar E-Type
Call for Price
1961 Jaguar E-Type Roadster
Rare Early "Side-Latch" Example, Numbers Matching, Less than 60,000 Miles
According to its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, which accompanies the car, this E-Type was built on July 17, 1961, and sold to the Duke Manufacturing Corp. of Jersey City, NJ on September 9, 1961. As an early-production example, it features the unique and desirable side bonnet latches, as well as welded louvers and flat floors. Eventually, the car was acquired by another gentleman in New Jersey, who restored the car in the 1990s. During this time, the engine was completely rebuilt, and the entire car was stripped down to the last nut and bolt. Photo documentation of the restoration process accompanies the car at sale. The previous owner kept this car as part of a small private collection, and would only drive it occasionally during sunny weekend mornings.
Most recently, the car has received a complete cosmetic restoration, including a respray in Silver Metallic, and the installation of a brand new interior. The car also received brand new wire wheels and a new boot cover. A thorough mechanical refreshment has been carried out, and the car today is in well-sorted mechanical condition. The odometer currently shows less than 70,000 original miles, and is ready to be appreciated by the most discerning collector or enthusiast.
As Jaguars most iconic sports car, an early example of the E-Type Roadster should be a top of any collectors list. This rare external bonnet lock configuration is in spectacular mechanical and cosmetic condition; with just a few hundred such examples produced, one would be remiss to let this one go by.

• Extremely rare early-production car from inaugural model year
• Complete numbers-matching 'Series I' roadster
• Verified by Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate

Numbered 875240, this 1961 Jaguar XKE Roadster is an original left-hand drive example, defining features characteristic of the earliest of the series produced. According to its corresponding Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, 875240 was built on 17 July 1961, factory-finished in cream over red with a black soft top. Following shipment to Jaguar Cars New York, it was sold to first owner Duke Manufacturing Corp. of Jersey City, New Jersey, on September 1, 1961. Having covered only an approximate 32,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, 875240 is a wonderful matching numbers example of one of the earliest XKEs ever produced, retaining the original engine, gearbox, chassis and body, consistent with the JDHT certificate. Further, the body number is stamped on the bonnet. Restored under previous ownership and resplendent in silver over a dark blue interior and fitted with a dark blue soft top, this stellar early XKE also features a correct period Motorola AM radio. Desirable additional items include a tool roll, operating and service manual, maintenance/service receipts, a spare wheel/tire, and roadside jack. A recent and thorough detailing under the current owner ensures its wonderful visual presentation. A truly wonderful example of a true high-water-mark in sporting automobiles, this 1961 Jaguar E-Type Roadster is one of the finest, and rarest, of all, with its external bonnet-latch, flat-floor and welded-louvers it is unquestionably the most sought-after car from this game-changing series.
