A California car when new, 875101 was taken off the road with a major engine issue and largely disassembled for a restoration which never really got underway. The car features all of its original sheet metal, including the all important outside latch bonnet.
Having been exposed to less than 10 years of California sunshine prior to five decades of dry hibernation, 875101 is an amazingly solid, genuinely rust free example - and obviously a wonderful candidate for a total restoration. This very special E Type will not require ANY panel replacement during the course of the restoration. When finished, it may very well be unique among restored outside latch roadsters, in this regard.
The cylinder head and transmission are both the original matching number items, although the factory block (which threw a rod and blew a hole in the sidewall) was discarded long ago. The car now has an appropriately dated (February 1961) E Type block. 875101 is substantially complete and not missing any significant components.

875101 is about to undergo a world class restoration in the CJ Workshops and is available for purchase at any point throughout the project.

Car was imported into Germany and did undergo that world class restoration which was finished in january 2018....The car is restored to all original specifications and finished in the original colourscheme .
Car will be offered at Techno Classica in Essen and is still a`blue chip`investment.

Having just viewed this particular car at Essen motor show, I would not agree it is in concours condition or even rebuilt with it's original components to the correct specification. Numerous early 61 components specific to this car are no longer present and instead later none period correct items have been fitted. It is such a shame this 'supposedly' matching numbers car was not done to a higher & correct level.

thank you very much for your positive commentary.
We took the car back to the workshop and rectified most of the snags.
As the car had to undergo the German roadworthiness tests we had to compromise with some necessary roadworthy safety aspects due to German legislation.
The leaking original brakefluidreservoirs- which are impossible to find- are now in a box together with other original items that comes with the car.
In general the result is now satisfying.

The round bottles are available at a relatively fair price either at Limora, Idstein or SNG - I checked that like 6 months ago. If we are talking about the sender on top of the bottles, these either can be repaired, are available on eBay and are generally much better that the subsequent items.
And what I understood from Classic Jaguar in TX is, that the engine block is not matching but was a non-stamped early exchange.
But despite many people striving for matching numbers, in particular with early cars it is hard to find and in my point of view not relevant for really enjoying a car.

Built in June of 1961 as a very early, outside bonnet-latch E-Type roadster, chassis no. 875101 was finished in Opalescent Bronze with a Suede Green interior. The car was allegedly delivered new to California via Jaguar Cars in New York, having been dispatched on 22 June 1961 as per its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. It remained there and was used regularly on the road roughly the first decade of its life before the original engine threw a rod, leading to the car being taken off the road. At that time, the car was disassembled for restoration, which would never come about.
The E-Type remained off the road for roughly the next five decades before it was purchased by its current owner as a restoration project and imported to Germany. Said to be a rust-free example when purchased by the consignor, it was the perfect candidate for a restoration. Sent to a marque specialist in Göttingen, Germany, the restoration took just over two years and utilised original parts wherever possible. It is impressively documented with hundreds of pictures and accompanied by invoices accounting for the work done. The original cylinder head and transmission were retained, and a 3.8-litre engine block dated February of 1961 was sourced and re-stamped to match the original head. Brought back to its original Opalescent Bronze over Suede Green, the car presents wonderfully throughout as a very early example of Jaguar’s most iconic car.
Beautifully restored to its seldom-seen and eye-catching colour scheme, this is an E-Type not to be missed.
Addendum
Please note that contrary to the printed catalogue description, the cylinder head is not original to this car. Furthermore, the rear portion of the monocoque is from a later E-Type.

This beautiful Jaguar E-type Series 1, 3.8 liter is one of the first E-types that have been built. This is a very early E-type with "Flat-Floor" and the "Outside Bonnet Lock". This makes this a very popular type and version of the E-type, because not long after the introduction the bonnet closures were moved inwards and the floor design was changed.
This manual E-type has been beautifully restored in the years 2015 to 2017 by a German Jaguar specialist with mainly, but not completely, original parts. For further details ask our specialists.
