This 1972 Jaguar E-Type Series III 2+2 is finished in Sable over tan leather upholstery and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes knock-off wire wheels, an aftermarket CD stereo, air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and auxiliary driving lights. The car spent time in Maryland before being acquired by the selling dealer in 2024. Work under previous ownership reportedly included removing and refurbishing the fuel tank, replacing the fuel lines, and replacing the valve covers. Service in preparation for the sale included changing the brake and clutch fluid, replacing the tires, charging the AC, and changing the oil. This E-Type is now offered in Pennsylvania with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, a jack, a knockoff hammer, parts catalogs, spare parts, and a clean Maryland title.
The car left the factory finished in Sable and was reportedly refinished some time in the mid-1990s. Features include dual side mirrors, a forward-hinged louvered hood, and quad exhaust outlets. Auxiliary driving lights were added under previous ownership. Exterior rubber seals show signs of aging.
Wire-spoke 15″ wheels were mounted with 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in July 2024. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The brake fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale.
The 2+2 cabin features seating surfaces trimmed in tan leather as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a Sony CD stereo, a heated rear window, and air conditioning that has been modified to use R-134a refrigerant.
The replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer. The removed leather-wrapped steering wheel is included in the sale.
The 5.3-liter V12 is equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 314 horsepower and 349 lb-ft of torque when new. Service under previous ownership reportedly included removing and cleaning the fuel tank, replacing hoses, and replacing the valve covers. Aftermarket cooling fans are operated via thermostat or manually. The AC was charged and the oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate shows a date of manufacture of November 29, 1971, and also lists powertrain serial numbers and the original colors.
A jack, a knockoff hammer, parts catalogs, touch-up paint, and spare parts are included in the sale.
