Sellers description:
Fresh Nut and Bolt Restoration!!!
The car offered here is a no excuse, ground up, bare metal, no expense spared full restoration. Absolutley EVERY nut & bolt, component, panel, etc, has been replaced, replated, or restored. Every step was photo documented along with receipts for everything. Restoration costs alone exceed the reserve by a good amount.
Buy it for less than the restoration cost and get the car for free!
This 1970 Series II E-type was repainted from the bare metal in a flawless British Racing Green and the new interior replaced with all correct materials to its original Biscuit color. Serial #P1R12137 left the factory December 24th, 1969 and is a two owner car with documented history from the first day it was titled 9/21/1970. It left the factory with the same engine, transmission that it still retains, as documented by the Jaguar-Daimler Trust Hertitage certificate. The 71050 miles are correct and original!
The car was factory equipped with Air Conditioning and Power Steering. The power steering is included with the car and was totally restored and tested on the car prior to replacement with a manual rack. I personally prefer the feel of the manual rack but it can be easily converted back should the next owner so desire.
JCNA Winner! The car has been shown in 4 JCNA concours since the restoration was completed in late 2003 and has three first in class and one second in the Champion class, C06. Never scoring less than 99.16, each time the car has been shown any flaws identified have been promptly addressed. For those of you not familiar with JCNA judging, the championship catagory is the most stringent class with every aspect of the car judged on a 1000 point judging system. The final result is then divided by 10 to get the score. The most recent outing, the car scored a 99.79, that's 997.9 out of a thousand! Keep in mind you can lose tenths for dust! You are looking at one of the ten best SII's in the world!
NOTE TO SHOW ENTHUSIASTS: The car currently has a correct color, stayfast Tan hood (that's softtop here in the states) which is of course incorrect for 1970, they came with vinyl from the factory. This is a mandatory 6 point deduction if the jugdes know the rules and this car would have to have a cheaper, inferior top installed to compete for the National Championship. As it sits, you have a much nicer and much more expensive top in perfect condition!
NOT A TRAILER QUEEN! One of the problems with many show cars is that they don't work! A car can be cosmetically perfect and score 100 points at a concours, but that doesn't mean it will go around the block! This car is fully sorted and performs flawlessly. Everything works just as it should, even the clock and original radio! Not to many XKEs in the world can make that claim. The car starts and runs hot or cold and the transmission shifts like butter. AGAIN, everything is as new or better, no component was left untouched.
Incorrect steering wheel and shifter knob which have since been replaced with the restored originals.
SHOW OR DRIVE If you want a beautiful e-type that you can drive a 1000 mile rally in or take to a show and win, this is your car!
