For sale is a 1966 E Type Coupe 1E21373. The Series 1 4.2 FHC is often regarded as the best series to drive. Originally dispatched in 5 July 1966 to Gilman Motors Hong Kong. Despite best efforts the original owner remains unknown. The car was reportably imported into Australia in the 1980s to NSW by Ian Cummins. The car was purchase circa 2000 by South Australian Owner "Name available" from Glenelg SA who restored the car from the ground up circa 2000-2005. Originally the car was Opalescent Silver Grey, During restoration it was changed to Opalescent Gunmetal. Original black leather interior remains. The previous owner used the car in Classic Adelaide 2005 with Haighs Chocolate advertising. Current owner purchased the car December 2009 and used until 2014 when it was given a major haul including: * Cooling system refurbished (modern fan added) * Braking system refurbished (Front Wilwood front calipers added) (Original parts included) * Engine head removed and refurbished. * Inlet manifold removed and refurbished * Exhaust manifold removed and re-coated * Ignition System upgraded to contactless 123/JAG-6-R-V, (Original parts included) * New leads & plugs (Original parts included Champion bowtie plugs) * Moto-Lita 15 inch leather steering wheel added (Original parts included) * New Dunlop 15" Series 1 curly hub wire wheels * New Pirelli P4 205/70R15 tyres * New door and ignition locks Car is fairly well known to a number of E Type Mechanics in Adelaide. Seller's description: "Delivered new in right hand drive........... This example is in good condition with regular use as a driving car. The Heritage Certificate confirms this Series One was built on 13th June 1966 in silver grey with black interior and delivered new to Gilman Motors of Hong Kong. The engine block is a matching number and the head has been replaced with the more efficient Series 3 XJ. There are some other improvements and original parts come with the car. Original E-Type oil filter canister (complete) currently fitted with a XKs unlimited spin-on conversion. Original E-Type Lucas distributor and Champion leads, currently fitted with a 1-2-3 electronic distributor. Original E-Type Dunlop front brake calipers, currently fitted with Wilwood modern brakes. Original E-Type front brake dust covers not used with modern brakes. Original E-Type starter motor, currently fitted with a modern high torque starter motor.
