Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

Lot #153623

This 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I roadster was refurbished in the 1990s, and it is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Pale Primrose over black leather, the car is equipped with a black soft top, enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, and a heater. Work in 2023 is said to have included servicing the front brakes and replacing the clutch, exhaust system, wheels, tires, and suspension bushings. This XKE Series I roadster was acquired by the current owner in 2023 and is now offered on dealer consignment with an Arizona title.

The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example was finished from the factory in blue and was repainted in Pale Primrose in the 1990s. Equipment includes a replacement black soft top, enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, and dual exhaust outlets.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off hubs and were mounted with Coker Classic Red Lines tires in 2023 that measure 185R15. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The front brakes were serviced and the suspension bushings replaced in 2023.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include black vinyl dash trim, latch-and-link lap belts, a sliding rearview mirror, a Blaupunkt AM radio, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 23k miles, less than 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a full-synchromesh four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch and exhaust system were reportedly replaced in June 2023.

The Arizona title lists “Not Actual” under the mileage section.

*Highly desirable covered headlamp, 4.2-Liter Roadster

*Pale primrose over black livery

*Honest and appealing older restoration

*Includes JDHT Heritage Certificate

*A lovely example for rallies, tours, and driving events

Produced at Jaguar's Brown's Lane factory in February 1967, this left-drive E-Type OTS was sold through dealer Thomas Plimley of Vancouver, Canada, and collected at the factory by its first owner, Dr. A. English. Originally finished in blue over a blue interior, it was subsequently restored in the 1990s and finished in its current shade of Pale Primrose – a factory-offered color from the period. The interior was also retrimmed in black leather, and a black canvas top fitted. Touches inside include a period Blaupunkt AM radio and AMCO walnut shift knob. The 4.2-liter XK engine is understood to be a replacement unit yet retains authentic fittings including the polished alloy cam covers and triple SU carburetors. An alloy radiator and electric fan are welcome additions. It is reported that new exhaust, wheels, and tires were fitted in 2023, but there are no receipts for the work completed on file. Presented in tidy overall condition and reported by the seller to be a machine that has been a lovely driver for him, this desirable Series 1 4.2-Liter Roadster represents one of the greatest British sports cars of all time and will surely be a welcome entry into an array of rallies, tours, and club events.
