Car to be at auciton 3/17

Auction description:
Amelia Island
10-11 March 2017
1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2-Litre Roadster
Chassis no. 1E 11175
Engine no. 7E 4573-9
Body no. 4E 2523
Without Reserve
Well-maintained restoration with the most classic color combination
Desirable Becker Europa radio
An excellent driver's E-Type, much-enjoyed favorite of Orin Smith
The beautiful Series 1 Roadster offered here was one of Orin Smith's favorite automobiles to drive in his collection. Finished in the classic color combination of British Racing Green with a biscuit interior, and with chrome wire wheels, it is the epitome of the modern British sports roadster of the '60s. Further, it retains the correct chassis number stamping on the frame, and the stampings on both the block and head both match. Appropriate to an automobile that Mr. Smith loved and enjoyed driving with enthusiasm, the interior shows light wear, while the paint remains in thoroughly excellent shape throughout, with light marring visible only on the upper edge of the deck lid. The dashboard contains a Becker Europa radio and clear, fine original gauges, with the odometer noted at 58,082 miles, a figure believed original.
Offered with a reproduction owner's handbook and a collection of invoices from Mr. Smith's ownership, this E-Type is ready for enthusiastic use, just as it has seen on the roads of Vero Beach for the past several years.

I just bought this car last night with a last second phone bid. The car should be here in a week. It was sold with 57 other cars from the Orin Smith collection at the RMSotheby's Amelia Island auction. A big and special thanks to Patrick Mcload, a local E-Type expert, for advising me, finding this car for auction, and recording a video of the auction! It's going to a good home where it will be fettled and enjoyed for years to come.

Seven weeks after receiving the car, the fettling was done and it made the 90 mile round trip without issue to the 2017 Keels & Wheels Concours d"Elegance at the Lakewood Yacht Club. It won Best of Class, and was one of the few cars selected to drive up the lawn to receive its award.
