This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was refurbished prior to the seller’s 2023 acquisition and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car is finished in green over black leather and equipped with a black soft top and top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15” knock-off wire wheels, quadruple carburetors, an Alpine cassette player, and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type is now offered in Massachusetts with a Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.
The car was refinished in its current shade of green in 2022, reportedly following rust repairs and metal work to the firewall, floor pans, rocker panels, and trunk floors. It is equipped with a black soft top and top boot, uncovered headlights, a forward-hinged louvered hood, and a power antenna.
Wire-spoke 15″ wheels are secured with knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/75 Windforce Primetour tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Refurbishment work reportedly involved replacing the upper and lower control arms, tie rod ends, front shocks, upper and lower ball joints, and wheel bearings.
The refreshed cabin houses bucket seats upholstered in black leather as well as color-coordinated door panels. Appointments include an Alpine cassette stereo, a locking glovebox, and air conditioning.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, while an analog clock and gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The seller states that the tachometer works intermittently. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. The current Massachusetts title carries an “Odometer Discrepancy – Not Actual Mileage” notation. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and is said to have been overhauled under prior ownership. An MSD Blaster 2 ignition coil is fitted. An oil drip from the left valve cover is reported.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
