This 1974 Jaguar E-Type Roadster V12 is finished in silver over Russet leather and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a black soft top, chrome 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. The car was sold new from Jaguar Cleveland Motors in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and reportedly remained with the original owner’s family prior to the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2019. The exterior was repainted in 1987, and service in 2021 consisted of rebuilding the carburetors along with replacing the water pump, belts, valve cover gaskets, front calipers, brake master cylinder and booster, spark plugs, and transmission fluid. This Series III E-Type shows 13k miles and is now offered with an owner’s manual, service records, original purchase documents, removed parts, a JCNA Concours d’Elegance scoring sheet, and a clean Ohio title.
The body was stripped to the bare metal, dings were repaired, and refinished in the factory color of silver by the selling dealer in 1987. Equipment includes a black vinyl soft top, black rubber bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets.
Factory chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels wear Dunlop SP Sport tires that show 2018 date codes. The four-wheel independent suspension incorporates torsion bars up front and coil springs out back, and braking is provided by four-wheel discs with the rear set mounted inboard. The selling dealer states the front calipers were replaced in 2021.
The interior features factory bucket seats upholstered in Russet leather along with color-coordinated door panels, flocked carpeting, and trim. Amenities include air conditioning, a locking glove box, and a British Leyland AM/FM radio.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer complemented by a clock and a quartet of auxiliary gauges housed in the center of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows just over 13k miles, less than 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The 5.3-liter V12 is fed by quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and delivers power to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The fuel pump, filter, and lines were replaced under current ownership, and service in 2021 by Catz Automotive Restoration of Youngstown, Ohio, consisted of rebuilding the carburetors along with replacing the water pump, belts, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and transmission fluid. The original removed parts are included in the sale.
The car is fitted with a replacement exhaust manufactured by Bell.
An original owner’s manual and holder pouch is included in the sale, along with original purchase documents, service records, and literature.
A Jaguar Club of North America Concours d’Elegance score sheet from a September 2021 event shows a 99.320 of a possible 100 points.
