Ebay item 7/8/12
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1974-Jaguar-SIII-/160838878805
Current bid $25,100, no reserve, 3 bids 7 days left in auction. 4k miles.

Sellers description:
1974 Jaguar E-Type Roadster, chassis number UE1S25119

Silver with red leather

Wire Wheels

Standard Transmission

Mileage: 4,493 from new ( no mistake )

This Jaguar just came out of a 26 year slumber in a heated garage, from the 2nd owner. Purchased new on April 8th, 1975 from Bennet Jaguar in Allentown, Pennsylvania with just 14 miles on the odometer, with a final sale price of $9,260, it went to its first owner in Aberdeen, Maryland. In 1978, it came back to Pennsylvania from its original owner to be traded in, then showing just over 1,000. On December 8th, 1978 it was purchased by its second owner as a "used car" from Wrona Pontiac-Cadillac in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Over the next 34 years, the second owner drove the car approximately 3,500 miles. Most of those miles were put on between 1978 and 1986.

The interior, tires, air filters, windscreen wipers, spare, glass, rubber and any/all components in tack and the way they left the factory in 1974.

The rubber components, while a little stiff and showing their age, are indeed original. The chrome is nearly perfect with a few blemishes, and the rubber bumpers are not warped or faded. All trim pieces, emblems, and original hardware are intact and in excellent condition. The glass is completely original and fade/crack free. The top shows perfectly, with the rear plastic window still in excellent condition. The tires are the factory originals, as is the spare, and are dated coded for 1973 as well. The door jams are clean with no issues, and all hardware shows as new. At some point in its life, my guess is some 25-30 years ago, the right rear fender had some damage and was repaired poorly so it needs to be addressed. At the time of the repair the entire car was painted rather than fuss with matching the silver paint. I don't think anyone that is into original cars as great as this one would live with the paint job. In my opinion, the car should be stripped and painted correctly. Other than a major service, nothing should be touched. The seats, carpets, sills, dash, and all related interior components are in superb original condition. So much in fact you can see the remnants of the plastic seat cover that was torn off on day-one. Safety/approval stickers from final assembly are still visible on many items. Under the carpets show near perfect floor pans and the rear storage compartment is nothing short of new. All proper labels, emblems, accessories, rubber components and stickers are all still present in their appropriate places; right down to the factory inspection sticker on the steering column under the dash, and an even more impressive date coded and hand written factory inspection sticker on the back of the fuse panel. Even the exhaust system is original and not needing replacing.

The hydraulic systems appear to be in working order with no leaks or major issues, beyond some very small surface corrosion on the brake master reservoir. The electrical system (minus the original battery) is all untouched and original with no issues present at all. Amazingly, the fuel system is looks nearly new as the gas was drained after its last use now showing a nearly new corrosion free fuel system, and tank in original condition. The engine bay shows only patina and road dust. It is perfect in terms of original components, accessories, and hardware. We have confirmed that every last nut, bolt, screw, strap, fitting, hose, and clamp is 100% factory original. We have found many interesting stickers, stampings, numbers, and writing all over the engine bay and underside that verify this cars original state. From the "Made in Sweden" on the belts, to the "Made in England" on the original distributor cap, and much more, this E-Type becomes more impressive the closer you look.

The undercarriage shows very well with factory undercoating, all heat shields and sound deadening in great condition in all the appropriate spots. Clean rear end cradle, floor pans, drive shaft tunnel, and exhaust stamped "British Leyland". The front suspension and sub frame clean and correct as one would expect. It appears that someone recently sprayed some undercoating on the floor pans. My guess is that it was a family member thinking it would be a good thing to do since the car was about to be offered for sale.

Included in the sale is: the original bill of sale, second owner's registration cards and registration application from 1978, warranty booklet and information, various factory warning papers, wiring diagram, owner's manual, key tag from original dealer, and plastic pouch all in excellent condition. The contents included with the car are the original spare tire/wire wheel in new condition (date coded for 1973 with inspection sticker from the factory), jack in pouch, boot cover (with foam pad from when it was new?), and a pack of "Genuardi's Grocery Store" matches found in the center console

Additional description from above 1/13 auction:
• Beautifully maintained, original, unrestored final year E-Type
• Only 4,493 actual miles
• Factory air conditioning and wire wheels

This desirable final year E-Type with factory air conditioning and wire wheels was delivered to its original owner in Aberdeen, Maryland by Bennet Jaguar, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, on April 8, 1975, at a final price of $9,260. The buyer returned it to Pennsylvania as a trade-in four years later, and it was resold on December 8, 1978 as a "used car" from Wrona Pontiac-Cadillac, of Quakerstown.

The second owner kept the Jaguar for 34 years but drove it only about 3,500 miles, most of them between 1978 and 1986. The car was then put into proper storage in a heated garage, and as offered today, it is very much as it emerged from the garage 26 years later, with only 4,493 actual miles.

The originality of this car cannot be overstated; with the exception of a repaint and some modern undercoating, every component is untouched and virtually immaculate. The chrome is near perfect with only a few blemishes, and the rubber bumpers are not warped or faded. The glass, top fabric, and backlight are as-new. The interior is so original that traces of the plastic that covered the seats as the new car journeyed to Allentown are still visible, and everything, once again, appears as it did in 1974. Importantly, such frequently disposed-of components as the original tires, hydraulic system, electrical system, and fuel system are all intact and in very good condition, and throughout the car, the original labels, emblems, accessories, and stickers appear where they were applied in Coventry. This E-Type is nothing less than a time warp back to 1974. All it is missing is the new car smell.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
