This 1974 Jaguar XKE is a Series III roadster that was originally sold by Rodier-Rooney Motors in White Plains, New York and acquired by the seller in February 1984. It is finished in brown over a beige interior and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes quad Zenith Stromberg carburetors, a black removable hardtop, a black soft top, knock-off wire wheels, a Blaupunkt cassette stereo, and a black boot cover. This E-Type is now offered with the original sales invoice, service manuals, a stamped maintenance booklet, and a clean Connecticut title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Sable and fitted with a black soft top and matching boot cover. The black removable hardtop received a new seal in June 2021 and is shown in the gallery below. Additional equipment includes chrome bumpers, US-spec bumper guards, a louvered hood, quad central exhaust outlets, V12 badging, and a replacement reverse lamp fixture. Rust repair on the rocker panels before the front wheels was performed in July 2021.

Factory 15” wire wheels with knock-off hubs wear 205/70 Dunlop SP60 tires. Four-wheel disc brakes came as standard along with independent front and rear suspension. The brake reservoir was recently replaced per the seller.

The interior is trimmed in beige upholstery along with matching carpeting protected by black rubber floor mats. Amenities include air conditioning, a Blaupunkt stereo, a locking glove compartment, a replacement analog clock, and an ash tray on the center console. The electrical system is said to have been recently refreshed.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 7k-rpm tachometer, while centrally-mounted gauges monitor voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. A replacement temperature for the water temperature gauge has been fitted. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 3k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 5.3-liter V12 features quad side-draft Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was factory-rated at 264 horsepower. The electrical system was serviced in June 2021.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.

The original invoice from Rodier-Rooney Motors in White Plains, New York lists the serial number, optional equipment and accessories, and a total new price of $11,597.75.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
