This 1973 Jaguar E-Type is one of 7,297 Series 3 2+2 coupes produced and was purchased in 1974 by Willard Stone, an attorney and former president of the Northern California Jaguar Club who passed away in 2010. Stone purchased this coupe and a roadster example at the same time, believing that this might be the end of the of the E-Type. Since his passing, the car has since been stored in the family’s climate-controlled aircraft hangar, but reportedly runs and drives. Power is from a 5.3-liter V12 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, and trim includes Sable Brown paint, a beige leather interior, and chrome wire wheels. This 2+2 shows 81k miles and is offered by a friend on behalf of the late owner’s son with a clean California title.

The exterior is finished in Sable Brown and features polished brightwork, V12 badging, and chrome bumpers with rubber overriders. The finish has flaws including cracks in the rear wheel arches.

Chrome 15″ center-lock wire wheels are mounted with Pirelli and Dunlop whitewall tires. The 2+2 featured an elevated roofline to provide headroom for the rear passengers.

The cabin is trimmed in beige leather with a black dashboard. The front seats show discoloration and a tear on the driver’s side. Smiths gauges include a 160 mph speedometer, 7k rpm tachometer, and 5-digit odometer showing 81k miles. A 3-spoke factory steering wheel is retained, while an aftermarket Pioneer cassette stereo is fitted ahead of the automatic shifter.

The 5.3-liter V12 features four Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. The seller states that service was completed throughout Stone’s ownership, though maintenance records prior to 2009 were reportedly lost in a robbery.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
