This 1973 Jaguar XKE was sold new in South Carolina and remained with its original owner until it was acquired by the seller in 1985. The car was originally finished in dark blue and was repainted white in 1980 at the preference of the original owner. It features a navy blue interior as well as blue hard and soft tops and is equipped with air conditioning, power steering, and chrome wire wheels. Power comes from a 5.3L V12 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, and the seller notes that service records dating from new are included in the sale. Now showing approximately 36k miles, this XKE is offered with a clean Maryland title in the seller's name.

The seller states that the car received a color change from its original blue to white in 1980 while in the possession of the original owner. The car has reportedly not received any notable cosmetic refurbishment during the seller's ownership and has been garaged when not in use for the past 33 years.

A hardtop matched to the original color is included in the sale, and the blue soft top is also present as seen in photos. This example was ordered with optional chrome knock-off wire wheels, which are currently mounted with Yokohama whitewall tires.

Blue carpeting is present to match the soft top, while seating and other surfaces are finished in black. Air conditioning was ordered from new and an older Alpine radio has been installed on the dash. A 3-spoke aluminum steering wheel is present. The seller notes that the tachometer was replaced in 2017. The speedometer was not changed at the time, and the odometer is said to currently show about 36k miles.

Power is sent from a 5.3L V12 to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The car has been maintained by European Auto Clinic during the seller's ownership, and service records dating to the original owner's time with the car are included in the sale.

Multiple undercarriage photos have been provided by the seller to detail the condition of the chassis, suspension, and driveline components.

Lot #150338

This 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III roadster was acquired by the seller from its previous owner of 33 years on BaT in July 2018, and it now shows 37k miles. Work under current ownership included the installation of chrome front bumper overriders, a single-wire Lucas alternator, a RetroSound radio, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and Bell stainless-steel exhaust components as well as re-chroming the bumpers and door handles, repainting the underside of the hood and upper portions of the front frame, cleaning the undercarriage with dry ice, and replacing the top boot, tires, and clutch hydraulic cylinders. Powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the car is finished in white over blue leather upholstery. It has a blue soft top, a replacement top boot, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car was previously finished in blue, and it was reportedly repainted in the current shade of white in the early 1980s. Front overriders with rubber inserts were installed, a custom fabric top boot was fitted, the bumpers and door handles were re-chromed, and the underside of the bonnet and upper sections of the front frame were repainted under current ownership. Exterior equipment consists of a blue fabric soft top, a forward-hinged louvered hood, and a power antenna. There are indents in the bonnet to the left side of the grille and left turn signal assembly, an area of delamination is present at the top-left corner of the windshield, and close-up of imperfections and paint are visible. The paintwork was wet sanded and polished by Redline Restorations of Bridgeport, Connecticut before a glaze was applied to the exterior in March 2022, and ceramic coating was applied to the exterior in March 2022.

The 15″ wire-spoke wheels are secured with retrofitted two-ear knock-off spinners and are mounted with 215/70 Cooper Trendsetter SE whitewall tires and replacement inner tubes that were reportedly installed within the last 2k miles. A matching spare is stowed in the trunk. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The power steering pump was resealed in 2018 and the radius arm bushings were replaced at that time. The seller notes that the brake fluid was flushed in 2024.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in replacement blue leather, and they are complemented by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. A RetroSound stereo head unit and a Jaguar-branded wooden shift knob have been added, and additional interior amenities include a locking glovebox, a power-adjustable driver’s mirror, Jaguar-branded rubber floor mats, and air conditioning.

The wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a replacement tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. An analog clock along with auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 2,100 of which were added under current ownership. The removed stock steering wheel and shift knob are included in the sale.

The 5.3-liter V12 is equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and an aftermarket spin-on oil filter adaptor, and it was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. The oil and coolant were changed in 2024, and additional work at that time is said to have included the installation of a single-wire Lucas alternator along with a replacement battery, ignition coil, coil wire, engine rain guards, and spark plugs. The removed stock oil filter housing will accompany the car.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch hydraulic cylinders were reportedly replaced under current ownership. The seller notes that work in 2022 included cleaning the undercarriage with dry ice along with the installation of a Bell stainless-steel exhaust system and replacement front lower splash guards. Service in 2024 is said to have included flushing the clutch hydraulic fluid as well as changing the gear oil in the transmission and differential.

Manufacturer’s literature, a binder of service records, a Union Jack car cover, a tool roll, and a collection of stock and uninstalled replacement parts are included in the sale.
