This 1973 Jaguar XKE is a Series III roadster that was completed on March 21, 1973 and distributed in the US through British Leyland of New York. Power is from a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in silver with a black soft top over dark blue leather upholstery. Equipment includes an Alpine AM/FM cassette stereo, air conditioning, MSD ignition, quad exhaust outlets, and polished knock-off wire wheels. The car reportedly remained with its previous owner from 1982 until the seller’s acquisition in 2022. This XKE is being offered with a Jaguar Production Record Trace certificate and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The car came finished from the factory in Silver, and exterior features include a black soft top, exposed headlights, V12 badging, and quad exhaust outlets. Dents in the driver-side lower rear valance were repaired and the area repainted during current ownership, and photos of the area prior to the work can be seen in the gallery below. Damage is noted on the front grille surround.

Polished replacement wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and mounted with BFGoodrich Advantage T/A tires. A full-size spare is found in the trunk. Braking is through four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears. The brake master cylinder is said to have been replaced.

The interior was trimmed in French Blue from the factory, and amenities include an Alpine AM/FM cassette stereo, an analog clock, air conditioning, and rubber floor mats. Areas of wear and evidence of foam degradation on the headrests are noted by the seller.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary displays. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles, a handful of which have been added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 5.3-liter V12 features single overhead camshafts for each cylinder bank along with quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. MSD ignition has been installed along with a Ron Davis aluminum radiator. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale. The emission control system has been removed, and the seller notes corrosion underneath the brake master cylinder along with various oil leaks.

The Jaguar Production Record Trace certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers, as well as a completion date of March 21, 1973.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
