This 1973 Jaguar XKE is a Series III roadster that was built on February 21, 1973, and was acquired by the seller in 1999. Power is provided by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in Sable with a black soft top over Biscuit leather upholstery. Equipment includes power-assisted steering and brakes, a limited-slip differential, 15″ chrome wire wheels, a rear luggage rack, dual exhaust outlets, and an Audiovox cassette stereo. Service under current ownership has consisted of rebuilding the engine and retrimming the interior. This XKE Roadster is offered with a car cover, service records, factory manuals, a tool roll, spare parts, a Jaguar Production Record certificate, and a clean Colorado title in the name of the seller’s business.
The car was finished at the factory in Sable and was stripped to bare metal and repainted under previous ownership. Equipment includes a black soft top, chrome trim and bumpers with overriders, a rear luggage rack, V12 emblems, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes that the rear undercarriage and wheel wells are undercoated in black.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with lobed knock-offs and wear 205/70 Dunlop D65 Touring Elite whitewall tires. Power steering is installed, and braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs with inboard rear rotors.
The cabin is said to have been retrimmed in 2003 and features bucket seats upholstered in Biscuit leather joined by matching door panels. Jaguar-branded floormats protect replacement carpets, and additional features include a concealed phone mount, an Audiovox cassette stereo, a leather Jaguar-branded shift knob, and animal-print seat belt pads. The air conditioning does not blow cold. A factory shift knob and a radar detector are included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 55k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The analog clock does not work.
The 5.3-liter V12 was overhauled in 2001 and features single overhead camshafts for each cylinder bank along with quad Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have included adjusting the carburetors, draining the fuel tank, and replacing the expansion tank. The cooling fans are wired to engage when the ignition is turned on, and the seller notes that the engine has been tuned to run lean to operate at high elevations. The battery was replaced in 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Jaguar Production Record Trace certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers as well as a completion date of February 12, 1973.
Service manuals, service records beginning in 1987, spare parts, a tool roll, and a car cover are included in the sale.
