    *Three owners from new
    *Excellent patina inside and out
    *Powerful twelve-cylinder E-Type
    *Carefully and meticulously maintained
    *Equipped with factory air conditioning

This Series III V-12 E-Type is a beautifully original example with fewer than 70,000 miles accumulated in the last 44 years. In the possession of its third owner, he inherited the car from his father in 2008 who had bought it from the original owner in 1980. The present owner's father was fastidious in his care for this car--it lacked for nothing and this high level of care for the car was ingrained in the owner's young son at the time.

The Jag sat idle under a cover in his father's garage from 1998 to 2006 owning to ill health. In 2006 it was re-commissioned. Work completed included replacing the gas tank, the fuel pump, the radio and the tape deck. The seller has replaced the alternator, the radiator, and all the coolant hoses and clamps as needed over the past eight years. Today the car is reported to start easily, idle well when warm, and perform strongly on the road. The engine is said to be smooth and quiet and while the optional Borg-Warner automatic gearbox shifts well with just a bit of lag between first and second. The car was recently serviced, within the past 350 miles, and detailed with new tires and tubes, the factory-optional wire-spoke wheels balanced. It is understood that the power features all work on the car including the factory-fitted air conditioning system.

The exterior shows off its original Sable paint very well, and the interior - Cinnamon/Beige leather - is clean, without splits, tears or excessive bagginess, to match the mileage. The soft top has not seen the light of day recently but when last erected was in very serviceable condition. A matching aftermarket fiberglass hardtop is included with the car.

This Jag won't win its class at a major national concours but it is very respectable on all counts asking only to be considered as a lovely, reliable driving car capable of holding its own both on the road or in a local show.

    Ebay item 12/7/16
    www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-Roadster-/201741149960
Car has a buy it now price of $79,500 for 6 days, seller vantage1227, 68k miles, car now said to be located in Huntington Station, New York. Sold at above auction for US$ 50,050.

    Sellers description:
1972 JAGUAR E TYPE V12 SERIES III ROADSTER
Sable Brown with Biscuit Tan, Beige carpeting and Black convertible top, 68,000 original miles, 2-Long Term Family Owners from new, Automatic, Factory air conditioning, Matching numbers, Factory hardtop and Wire wheels.

This E-type V-12 Roadster has been enthusiast owned, meticulously cared for and maintained from new. Purchased from the first family ownership in 1980, it has been kept in its second long term family ownership until its recent purchase by Autosport Designs, Inc.

As stated above, it is matching numbers, complete with its factory hardtop and with only the slightest patina having been cared for properly and fastidiously by both previous owners to date, ensuring its superb condition. It has had one repaint several years ago in its original color and remains in excellent condition. More recently, this V12 Roadster has been treated to a mechanical full service, replacement of fuel tank, fuel pump, new alternator, cooling system service including new radiator and all hoses, air conditioning service and new tires. Finally, the interior, already in excellent cared for condition has recently received the following. Its headrests (commonly deflated) have been re-padded to original condition and a pair of new carpets mats have been supplied and installed. Otherwise, the interior is superb with only the slightest wear and original patina. Last but not least, the V12 Roadster has received a brand new factory convertible top.

It is a rare to find such a well preserved example of a V-12 Roadster in this condition. It has never sustained any accident damage and has never had the need for rust repair. Everything is currently working as was originally intended and as delivered from the factory when new. It has excellent ownership history and due to constant and well cared for servicing is ready for immediate use and enjoyment.

    Body Colour Sable

On offer here is a delightfully original left-hand drive Series 3 V12 E-Type Roadster automatic that has clearly led a very cherished life. Despatched to New York in September 1972, it returned to the UK in 2018 arriving at the well-known classic car dealers ‘Roman Garage’ of Grantham, Lincolnshire, where it remained for just a short while before passing into the hands of the present owner. Stroll around the Jaguar and gradually your attention is drawn to the apparent originality, take a look under the skin and the underside of the bonnet, look into the door shuts, at the interior trim and into the boot where all appears to be as it left the factory, remaining untouched and in superb condition. The, once not so desirable, external colour of Sable somehow now appears to fit the bill, even more so when the accompanying hard top is in place, giving the Jaguar a certain nostalgic appeal, even the automatic gearbox ticks the boxes and adds to the feel of a gentle Grand Tourer. Subtle upgrades including a stainless steel exhaust and Gaz coil-over shock absorbers suggest interested and caring ownership.

With recent works completed by the renowned Jaguar E-Type specialists, Butlin & Sons, the Jaguar has clearly been exceptionally well-cared for with no expense spared and maintenance carried out as and when required, not only under present ownership, but from the overall condition since it rolled off the production line in 1972.

Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the overall quality of this remarkable Jaguar, to find an example that has so much originality still in place is a rare find indeed and, as they say, 'it's only original once'.

I'm glad to see the old girl is still around and looking good. My father was the second owner, and I the third. I grew up with this beauty until I sold it in 2016 as referenced above. It warms the heart to know that she is still well cared for and enjoyed.
