Lot number 119 at Brightwells, Leominster Classic Car Auction in September 2010. Hammer Price - £17,000.
Primrose yellow fixed head coupe dates from 1970 and was exported new to America, returning to the UK in the 1990's. Extensively restored on arrival here, it was converted to right hand drive and put back on the road in 1997 since when it has covered 7,000 miles.
More recently the car has been treated to an engine rebuild in 2006 and new wire wheels were fitted in 2008. I t also benefits from a stainless steel exhaust.
Now said to be in good order throughout, it is MOT'd and taxed. It comes with a huge amount of service history, an owners manual and a Heritage Certificate.

Bought by me at the above mentioned auction. Car running fine especially with new electronic ignition fitted. Well used in the summer months. Often the car of choice for my children and friends to arrive at their school prom!

Car to be at auction 2/22
www.brightwells.com/timed-sale/5237/lot/557476
Auction description:
1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II FHC
A very usable example ready to enjoy; great colour combination; triple carbs
This eye-catching Primrose yellow fixed-head coupe dates from 1970 and was exported new to America according to the accompanying JDHT Certificate.
Delivered to BL in New York, it was desptached on 4th November with Cinnamon trim (now black) and a manual box. As is so often the case with American imports, there is no accompanying history relating to its time in the States, although there is a whopping file with details of the investment and work done since its repatriation in the early 1990s.
Extensively restored on arrival here, it was converted to right-hand drive and put back on the road in August 1997 since when it has covered limited miles. The car was treated to an engine rebuild in 2006 and new wire wheels were fitted in 2008. It also benefits from a stainless steel exhaust and a correct triple carb setup.
Purchased through ourselves back in 2010 by the vendor's step-father, it has been well cared for but little used, barely 1000 miles having been added over the intervening years.
There are a few jobs which would improve the cosmetic aspects of the car, particularly in several areas of trim but all simple and rewarding stuff. Bidders are also advised that it has developed a minor fuel leak from the rear of the car since it has been on site.
It comes with a large amount of service history, an owners’ manual and is only reluctantly being sold because it is just not getting the use it deserves.
