This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II 2+2 is finished in red over tan leather upholstery and powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes dual Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, 15” wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, a louvered hood, and a Sony CD stereo. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2016, reportedly from its original owner, and the power steering rack and ball joint boots were replaced in 2022. This XKE 2+2 if offered on consignment by the selling dealer with service records, repair manuals, an owner’s handbook, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in red and is said to have been repainted during the mid-2010s. Features include a louvered clamshell hood, a left-side mirror, pop-out rear quarter windows, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with guards.
Chrome 15” knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 195-15 Michelin X redline tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted units at the rear. A remanufactured power steering rack was installed and the ball joint boots were replaced in April 2022. The selling dealer states the car requires an alignment and the lower control arm bushings should be replaced.
The cabin features front bucket seats and rear seating for two upholstered in tan leather. Amenities include a Sony CD stereo, a center console armrest, and front shoulder belts. The air conditioning is non-functional.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline, while a clock and auxiliary gauges are located in the center of the dashboard. The fuel level gauge intermittently functions. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors. Work performed in 2016 included replacing the spark plugs, throttle linkage bushing, and fuel pump, while the carburetors were repaired in 2017 and the oil pressure sender was replaced in 2018. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale, and the selling dealer notes the presence of oil leaks.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
Chassis number P1R43784BW is shown above, and the sequence is listed as the VIN on the title prepended with a “J70.”
