Ebay item 8/6/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $10,200 reserve not met, 5 bids, 4 days left in auction. Buy it now price $17,500.

Sellers description:
Owned this car since Dec '05. Here is what history I can piece together:

1. I bought the car in Dec '05 from a neighborhood friend. I updated the complete AC system to 134A (~$1900) and rebuilt the entire Power Steering system. Replaced hoses, plugs & wires etc.....

2. My friend purchased it earlier in the year from a local museum where it had been donated. He cleaned out the gas tank, and did minor tuneup activities to get the car running. He never titled if from the museum to himself though.

3. It was donated to the museum in Dec '97 with what appears to be 37,688.

4. Looks like the guy who donated it, had purchased the car in May 1985 with 30,660.

Therefore, from this data the car had ~8K put on it in the past 22 years. That would leave ~30K in the first 15 years which seems plausible. Based upon the data I have and the cars appearance the odometer reading of 38,820 seems legit, but of course I'm not able to authenticate it.

The car appears to be all original paint/Int etc.... and I don't find any rust or body damage. It does have the typical appearance of a car that old: odd ding here and there, aged but not torn interior. I'm not aware of any issues with the cars mechanical/electrical. The car runs great and is fun to drive.

1970 Jaguar E-Type, Wonderfully well sorted and beautiful maintained 1970 XKE 2 + 2. "To Drive is to believe!!!!"

Original factory paint with Absolutely no rust!! (Has door dings, paint oxidation, etc.) Purchased out of a museum in Texas and lovingly enjoyed and restored over the past 8 years. JNCA restored leather front seats, console and headliner. Fresh Black Crackle on stereo surround, with fresh speakers installed. Original wire wheels are beautiful with red line tires (4 years old) and fresh tubes in May. Suspension completely sorted and rebushed. Period correct Stainless Alloy Headers and stainless steel exhaust featuring flow masters and correct chrome resonators. Sounds perfect!!! Many receipts for work in making this a bullet proof machine and a dream to drive in the hot or cold. Caught in traffic in 90 degree weather? No problem with gorgeous alloy radiator and double fan set-up. Fans run on thermostat or can be operated from a toggle switch under dash. Fully functional A/C adds to comfortable summer driving. Battery has trickle system to assist in maintaining the battery in the winter months. Never driven in rain or snow. Shifts precisely with 10" Racing Clutch and engine revs so freely and smoothly with the light Alloy Fly Wheel installed. Only a very few Series II are equiped with Power Assisted Rack and Pinion Steering. Such a treat to drive. Full documentation on work done at arguably mid-west's most respected E-type restoration and maintenance facility.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
