Info posted for live auction in Phoenix 1/23/04 RM auction. Auction starts at $20k. Their estimated value is $45k - $50k
Sellers comment:
This example was originally delivered in June of 1964 to California where it has remained all of its life with just four owners from new. It was the recipient of a total nut and bolt restoration to concours standards. The exterior is finished in Primrose Yellow with a black interior and comes complete with a tool roll and heritage certificate. The quality of the restoration was validated by JCNA when this example was judged overall class champion by JCNA in 2001 and 2003. Unlike so many other concours champions, this example has actually been driven (albeit carefully) and enjoyed on the open road.

Car to be at auction 2/25:

Seller's description:
1964 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe
The Academy of Art University Collection
Estimate:$110,000 - $140,000| Offered Without Reserve
Desirable covered headlight Series 1 Coupe with its matching-numbers engine and cylinder head
Comprehensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration in its original as-delivered colors
Noted as a former JCNA class champion
Documented with a copy of its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and offered with a knock-off hammer and jack
Chassis No. 890387
Engine No. RA6286-9
Comprehensively restored as originally finished in Primrose Yellow over a Black interior, this Series 1 Fixed Head Coupe was originally dispatched to the United States on 6 April 1964. Furthermore, the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate notes that it retains its numbers matching 3.8-liter straight-six with triple SU carburetors and aluminum cylinder head. Prior research indicates that it was first sold in Long Beach, California and then placed into storage for some time by its second owner in Los Angeles in 1972 with approximately 74,000 miles. Post-restoration, chassis number 890387 became a JCNA National Class Champion in both 2001 and 2003. While some time has passed since then, the very correct restoration has aged remarkably well since entering the Academy of Art University Collection and is offered with copy of its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, knock-off hammer, and jack.
