First owner to my knowledge was Jerry Price. Oak Harbor. Washington state

Owner: ove, norway

Been in ln love with E-types since I first saw one in 1990, when I was 14. Bought all books and clssic car magazines with E-types and finally had enough money to buy one in 2001, aged 25. Been restoring it ever since, learning as I go. My goal is to have it ready for the E-type 50th anniverary in 2011.

I an currently restoring a 1964 E-type and this is what I have done so far.

Every panel exept the rear hatch, the roof, part of the bulkhead and the mounting points for the IRS was either rusted or seriously dented and patched. I considered to pursue the guy who sold me the "rust free E-type", but since he was already in jail following other bad wrecks he had imported, I figured it wasn`t worth the hassle. In his defence, He had sold me a good TR6 a couple of years earlier, and the E-type was at least complete and a matching number car as described.

A cheap rust free E-type doesn`t exist. I guess some of us just like to learn it the hard way !

At this stage a man have to consider his options. A new roadster body, perhaps? naaw. It was a FHC I wanted and besides, you can count the summer in hours here below the artic circle. I could have learned to weld myself, but lack of space and a new baby on the way meant little spare time. In the end I did the only sensible thing. Put the damn thing on a trailer and ship it to the nearest Jaguar specialist. Well It wasn`t that near either. 700 miles and it was in Sweden.

After about 6 months, they finally found time between other concours projects to start working on my Jag.
When they finally put the grinder to rest, It wasn`t much left !

Most sane people would probably have given up by now, and ordered a new roadster body, but I was determined to save this car. Besides, I had already spent too much on it to give it up.

It was a big day for me when I and a couple of friends drove the 700 miles to collect the car this august, after almost two years.

Car still not ready. But only minor trim pieces missing. And final adjustments to everything. Hopefully the car can be tested before winter sets in.

Sold by Gallery Aaldering of Brummen in September 2021. Amended seller's description below.

www.gallery-aaldering.com/jaguar-e-type-3-8-1964/

A 1964 E Type 3.8l Series 1. In 1964 it was supplied new to the United States, later to be sold to a Norwegian E Type enthusiast. He commissioned a full mechanical overhaul and restoration by a Swedish Jaguar specialist. The restoration was carried out to a very thorough and professional standard. The bodywork and chassis were taken back to bare metal, with the bonnet open the detail of the work undertaken is clear. The resprayed chassis has been colour coded with the supporting struts left clear which is correct. After the groundwork was done the car was resprayed in wonderful Cream, the external finish contrasts beautifully with the Red leather trim. Both bodywork and paintwork are still in great condition. The wire wheels have been rechromed and look lovely.

The interior was fully reupholstered, and before that Dynamat sound proofing was installed. These mats reduce cabin noise and shield against engine and exhaust heat. The cabin was fitted with matching red carpets and leather trimmed seats as well as a completely refurbished boot area. The dashboard was refurbished and presents fabulously with all instruments and controls in full working order. This is a matching numbers example with the original engine. The 3.8l straight six was fully rebuilt and matched to the manual 4 speed gearbox. The brakes and suspension are fully overhauled, contributing to the excellent handling. A photo album is included detailing the car. This pretty FHC is a joy to drive.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
