www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php
Auction description:
Autosport
NEC, Birmingham
Saturday 10th January 2009
1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Fixedhead
Lot 216
Registration Number:
EU taxes paid
Chassis Number: 890095
The example on offer here is an original, matching numbers car which has benefi ted from a recent restoration to the beautiful state you see today, with all decorative items either re-chromed or replaced with parts from Jaguar specialists SNG Barratt of Shropshire.
The restoration process involved a total engine rebuild, as well as new oversized .020 pistons being fi tted, a full overhaul of the cylinder head, with new valve guides and new hardened valve seats for use with lead-free petrol. The brakes have also been completely overhauled, with re-machined rotors, rebuilt callipers and new pads and master cylinder. The gearbox has also been thoroughly overhauled, with new bearings and seals.
Cosmetically, the car has been subjected to a comprehensive, bare-metal restoration, where it was rustproofed before being rebuilt with "cad-dipped" bolts and washers, before being repainted in Gun Metal Metallic using Dupont paint. The interior has also been thoroughly restored, with new biscuit leather
used throughout.
In addition, the car has been extensively rewired with restored original gauges, and fi tted with brand new stainless steel exhaust system and Koni shock absorbers.
An excellent chance to acquire a recently-restored example of this iconic British sportscar.
Estimate: £27000 - £30000
