This 1964 Jaguar XKE is a numbers matching example that was discovered in a steel barn two years ago by the seller. The car is said to have served as the previous owner's daily driver until being placed into storage in 1980. Originally finished in Opalescent Golden Sand, the car was reportedly re-painted around 1975 in a non-original color. The seller states that the body panels appear straight and true, and the bonnet and nose are undamaged. Power comes from a 3.8L inline-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, both of which are said to turn freely, and the previous owner stated that the engine was last serviced in 1979. This example also received an interior refinishing at an unknown date and efforts have been made by the seller to keep the car as it was found in storage. This XKE is not currently running and is now being offered with its original tool kit and spare, as well as a clean California title in the seller's name.
Originally finished in Opalescent Golden Sand, the car was repainted in a non-original silver sometime around 1975, and it has not been cleaned or prepped since being pulled from storage. The finish displays scratches, cracks, and peeling, as well as a thick layer of oxidation and dust from its 35 year storage.
The factory wire wheels are in place along with a matching spare. An extra knock-off wheel is also included in the sale.
The interior was refinished at an unknown point in two-tone red and black leather, including a matching dash, center console, and door panels. The headliner is present and will be included in the sale.
All dash switchgear is present, and the three spoke steering wheel has been wrapped with leather around the rim. The odometer shows 85,316 miles.
The previous owner stated that the engine was last serviced in 1979, though the car is currently not running. When the car was acquired by the seller, the spark plugs were pulled and the cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery Oil. After sitting for almost a month, the car was placed in 3rd gear, gently rocked back and forth, and eventually rolled roughly 60 feet forward. The engine, transmission, and rear end were all found to turn freely.
A Jaguar Heritage Certificate can be seen below and will be included in the sale along with various original manuals and other documentation. The seller states that the car is a numbers matching example, with the following reference numbers seen on the body plate:
Engine: RA5252-9
Gear Box: EB13362JS
Body : V7435
GAR : 889930
