Sellers comment:
If you always wanted an E-type Jaguar, then look no more. This is not a concours show car (with a show car price) but a nice original car, very pretty and correct. This is the first car I ever “fell in love” with when they first came out in 1961. This is the original body style Series 1 and the last year to have to coveted 3.8 liter engine. Later models were to get “uglied up” with revisions to the headlights, bumpers, sidelights, wheels, switches, pollution requirement garb, etc. I am the third owner and need to sell the car for health reasons. The car is driven every weekend or two for a short cruise. This car has matching numbers and has been garage kept. As you can see the car looks great, but close inspection will show some gravel dings on the front (covered with touch up paint), some minor chips and other imperfections. The car starts quick, runs smooth and strong and does not smoke. The radio and clock do not work at this time and the tach works but has an intermittent loose connection at the sending unit. There is a small crack on the top of the dash. There is a small spot of rust near the battery. The seats are covered in a good cloth upholstery (they were this way when I purchased the car (perhaps for comfort in the Texas heat or just because the previous owner wanted to save a buck – assuming the factory put leather on all cars). The seats can be recovered with leather to match the original if desired and are readily available, as are most all other parts for the car
