Hi there - I noticed your question about latch covers. I have 889441 It was quite original and had the very long latch cover also. I thought t was non-standard and nearly threw it in the skip until i saw other US e-types with similar covers. Seems like UK cars didn't get them???

I think that these long latch covers were only used on the last of the 3.8's and with the introdution of the 4.2's the fuel pump being changed to the normal SU pump the cover had to be change as it covered the cut out for the pump access.
I will try and post some photos of the car soon, it is still under restoration but almost there.

The car was purchased from a couple of guys importing American cars into Australia in 2000. It had bonnet damage but no rust at all. It was originally white with black trim, but is now opalescent dark blue with beige trim.It has a Getrag 5 speed box and totaliy integrated air con (you can not see it until you drop the ashtray and dummy radio down) Apart from this it is very original looking.

During the restoration this car had all the Modifications tastefully hidden and disguised, this was to preserve the Original look of the car.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
