 | Just a small town Southern Oregon native who thought he'd died and gone to heaven when he saw his first XKE in the early '60's. Soon as I got a job out of college, I bought the first one I found that I could afford. I'm primarily a flyfisherman, and not much of a mechanic, so owning an XKE in a remote part of the country had been a bit of a challenge. I know mine isn't worth much, but I haven't seen one on the road in years, so I'm still pretty proud of mine, although I know it would make a purist shudder, (email)Updated July 15th, 2003. I bought it in 1974 for $2000 with a Ford 289, in it, something I could take care of on my limited budget. Never been sorry, would love to take it back to original as possible, but I just can't afford it. Getting ready to put a new engine in it now and rebuild the brake system.
By far the most fun car I've ever owned.

The current owner acquired this 1964 Series I E-Type Coupe approximately 1½ years ago in Oregon as a solid rolling chassis in need of an engine and transmission. A correct 3.8-liter engine was located and installed; in fact, it must have covered very few miles, since it retained the original cylinder bore size and the crankshaft revealed no evidence of having been machined. The engine was overhauled with new bearings and piston rings and mated to a completely new clutch assembly and the improved four-speed manual gearbox from a later 4.2-liter Jaguar. Other mechanical work includes new dash and engine bay wiring harnesses, new front suspension bushes and ball joints, rebuilt brake calipers with new seals, new brake master cylinders, a new clutch master cylinder and a new slave cylinder. A stainless-steel exhaust system has also been fitted.
The E-Type is presented in its factory-original appearance, with the exterior refinished in the original cream, complemented by a new and correct red leather and vinyl interior. The windscreen and side window glass is new, all of the chrome brightwork has been restored, and a new set of six-inch chrome wire wheels, complete with Michelin tires, was installed. At the time of writing, the E-Type has covered just 30 test miles since its restoration was completed. What better way to celebrate the E-Type’s 50th anniversary in 2011 than with the purchase of this lovely example!
