This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a left-hand-drive coupe that was delivered to New York on March 19, 1963. Finished in Claret over burgundy leather, this example is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The previous owner reportedly was a Jaguar collector and restorer who purchased the car in 1999 and installed an updated radiator and electric cooling fans. It was recently acquired by the selling dealer and serviced in preparation for sale with the rebuild of the head with new exhaust valves, replacement valve guides and cam bearings, an oil change, and a brake-fluid flush. This fixed-head Series I XKE is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and a clean Oregon title.

Series 1 E-Types are equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the rear bumpers. Originally finished in Opalescent Golden Sand, this car’s body was repainted in Claret by the previous owner. The seller replaced the lower driver-side footwell after damage was discovered.

15″ chrome wire wheels are mounted with two-ear knock-off hubs and wear Hercules Roadtour 655 tires.

Burgundy leather upholstery covers the fixed-back seats, center console, and door panels. A factory wood-rimmed steering wheel is equipped, while aluminum trim accents the dashboard.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer showing 60k miles, although the seller notes that the mileage is not accurate. The previous owner added approximately 15k miles during 20 years of ownership. The gauges and lights reportedly function as they should.

The 3.8L inline-six features triple SU carburetors and is mated to a four-speed manual transmission. An updated radiator and electric cooling fans have been installed. The seller notes that the car had been sitting for some time when he acquired it, and he has since had the mechanicals and electrical system inspected. The oil and filter were recently changed, as was the brake fluid. In August 2019, the seller rebuilt the head with new exhaust valves, re-surfaced it, and replaced the valve guides and cam bearings.

The stamping RA1317-9 seen on the cylinder head corresponds with the number indicated on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate and on the body tag.

A Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate issued in July 2019 lists the car’s date of manufacture, serial numbers, and original colors.
