Ebay item 5/5/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-3-8-L-1962-JAGUAR-XKE-COUPE-OUT-OF-STO ...
Current bid $1,000, no reserve, 1 bid, 4 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
My jaguar comes from the vintage year of 1962 and features the good looks that has turned heads for over 40 years. Driving a Jag xke 3.8 Litre E type with its power & handling brings the driver back to the golden years of motoring. I recently found this 1962 3.8 Litre Jaguar tucked away under cover from a long storage, and could not resist buying her. I will not be able to give this cat the attention it deserves. So, I will sell to the highest bidder with no reserve.
CONDITION:
* Car # 887847
* Body # V4919
* Engine # R9360-9
* Gearbox # EB7046JS
* Accidents ? It does not appear that there is any major accident damage on car.
* Mileage: 27,523 Not sure if correct.
* Engine: Matching number.
* Transmission: An automatic jag transmission is currently installed. I do not have any history or know the condition of transmission. The best thing to do would be to reinstall a 3.8 L transmission back into car. ( I do not have the original. )
* Clutch: Clutch pedal still intact.
* Body: Needs restored. It will need body work as my pictures show. Rocker panels, floors, front valance on bonnet, & floors all have the normal rust.
* Floors: Rusty and needs attention. However, in my opinion, they could be used.
* Bonnet: Needs body work.
* Trunk area exterior: Pretty good shape.
* Interior: Looks like original red leather; Seats in ok shape. All interior will need redone.
* Dash: Complete and intact.
* Chrome: Needs replated.
* Tires: Fair.
* Exhaust: Old, but there.
* Missing parts: Parts that are missing: Radiator, Front and rear turn signal housings and lenses, Door handles, Wipers, and Rear pass bumper. These are the parts that I know are missing. There may be a few more.
* Spare tire: None.
* Tools: None.
* I have a New York "open" registration card.

Not that anyone will actually ever read this comment (or care...), but the description above notes that this car has had the original transmission replaced with a Jaguar automatic transmission and that is incorrect. What has actually taken place is very interesting (judging by the photos) - that is a Muncie 4-speed bolted up to a Jag Bellhousing.
Jaguars and Chevys have the same spline count and diameter on their input shafts, and many vintage specials used various GM V-8s with Jag transmissions behind them. This is the first time I have ever seen it done the other way around...
