This 1963 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that was built on September 19, 1962 and distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York. It is finished in white over black vinyl and powered by a numbers-matching 3.8-liter inline-six linked with a four-speed manual gearbox. The seller acquired the car out of long-term storage in 2018, and subsequent recommissioning included rebuilds of the drivetrain, along with refreshment of the brakes, suspension, fuel system, cooling system, and more. Approximately 3k miles have been driven by the seller, including an 800-mile rally. This Series I E-Type is offered with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, receipts from the seller, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.
Finished in Cream from the factory, the car was reportedly repainted its current shade of white before being placed into long-term storage in the mid-1980s. An area of bubbling paint is noted around the right front wheel arch from a repaired scrape which occurred while moving the car. Other blemishes are pointed out by the seller. Features include fender-mounted mirrors, covered headlamps, and polished bumpers with overriders.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-off spinners and wear 185VR15 Vredestein Sprint Classic V tires that were installed by the seller. The power-assisted disc brakes were refreshed with rebuilt calipers and a re-sleeved master cylinder. The suspension was also overhauled during current ownership with new bushings and ball joints, and the steering rack and steering column were refreshed.
The cabin is trimmed in black vinyl over low-back bucket seats with Hickok lap belts. The dash features aluminum trim on the center stack and console. Amco rubber floor mats protect black carpeting in the footwells. The spare wheel, jack, and fuel tank are housed beneath a vinyl-clad subfloor under the rear hatch.
Additional features include a stock wood-rimmed steering wheel, a period Blaupunkt radio, and Smiths gauges, including a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows 73k miles, around 3k of which have been added by the seller.
The numbers-matching 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six was rebuilt with cylinders bored .020″ over under current ownership. The seller also rebuilt all three SU carburetors. Cometic gaskets were installed during the work, along with a new water pump and an upgraded oil pump, front seal, and cooling fan under a stock-style shroud. The radiator was flushed and the heater pipes and fan were replaced, while the fuel tank was flushed, resealed, and fitted with a replacement in-tank pump.
Engine block stamping R7676-9 matches the number listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate. Corresponding stamps from the cylinder head, flywheel, and crankshaft, along with the matching transmission stamping (EB6733JS)
The four-speed Moss gearbox was recently rebuilt by Vintage Jag Works of Blackfoot, Idaho, while the rear differential was overhauled by Coventry West of Lithonia, Georgia. The replacement stock-style exhaust system includes stainless steel header pipes and dual mufflers.
A jack, knock-off hammer, and owner’s manuals are included with the sale. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate lists production dates, original colors, and drivetrain and body numbers.
