Registered by Jaguar as 1302WK with Coventry Borough Council in 1962 before shipment as a Personal Export Delivery to Texas. Imported into the United Kingdom from the United States in 1999, the original registration number was recovered and re-issued by the DVLA in October 2000. The car initially went to Brooklands Motorsport where it was stripped down and put into storage.

In 2004 it was purchased by Classic Car Racing to be fully restored and rebuilt as a race car to FIA appendix K specification. It was converted to right hand drive and the chassis rebuilt with new front frames supplied by Martin Robey and finished in silver. The rear suspension cage is mounted on Metalistic style solid mounts and the rear cage is built to the specification of works cars with the radius arms fitted with heavy duty mounts and with two extra radius arms.

The body shell is steel with de-seemed rear quarter panels slightly flared to take 7 inch wide peg drive alloy wheels. The rear hatch and doors are lightened and the bonnet is aluminium with higher wheel arches with extra louvers and larger headlamp openings with Perspex covers. The hubs are peg drive to PCD standard and the rear drive shafts are GKN units as supplied to the early cars. A Hayward and Scott exhaust system with FIA approved manifold is fitted.

The engine was rebuilt by Dave Butcher to develop 348bhp with lots of torque to deliver power lower down the range. It utilises all series 1 components in the suspension and is fitted with a roll cage built by Safety Devices to FIA specification. Inside there are two alloy seats covered in grey leather cloth with a four point grey leather harness fitted. It has a heated front windscreen and all glass has been replaced by Perspex.

The car has been run in the HSCC Guards series since 2006 winning its class in 2007. In 2015 it has appeared at the HSCC Easter Revival Meeting in April and the Donnington Historic Festival in May.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
