The motor, title and data plate for this car arrive to ebay.

Opening bid $1,500, no reserve, no bids yet. Located in West Point, Virginia, USA. I have to assume the VIN for the pictured car isn't correct. Unfortunately there is no way to verify the numbers from the car pictured in the UK.

Previous aution ended at GBP 8,800 after 27 bids.

I would like to know what is going on here! It is my engine that is on ebay. Now I find my pictures at this website??? The close-up of the engine ID number was is the one I took in my back yard, with my camera. If anyone doubts this, I will take another picture with today's paper included.

Just to add, my motor and build plate were never in this car. I would like to know how this car ended up with my VIN.

There was some confusion, which hopefully is now cleared up, with a car being entered in this number based on a blurry number on a photo which sure looked like 885853, but I am now fairly confident is 885858. Sorry for the hassle, dan, good luck selling your kit.

Thanks Roger, that sure clears up a lot of confusion. And look, I've got my own page now! It's great that we can both be right. I still have my '66 XKE OTS LHD project that should be done within 20 years or so. That car is 1E11700 and is currently scattered in various boxes in my garage and shed. Let me know what documentation you need and I'll get it to you.

Great Site, Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan, Glad we got that sorted out, though upon moving that car to 885858 yet more controversy erupted. Maybe the coupe is our version of Christine.

On your roadster, I'd encourage you to use the "enter data" button on the left and leave as much or as little information as you like. You can upload photos of your boxes, too...maybe I'll follow your lead, since I seem to be following the same timeline and my car is in the same state!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
