I bought my XKE in 1980 ($4000) when I worked in south Florida. The car was originally a Series 1, 3.8, Serial Number 885714. The owner before the person that I bought the car from had sustained an engine fire that damaged the interior, engine, and the bonnet. The car was restored with the interior, transmission, engine, and bonnet from a Series 2, 4.2 liter engine vehicle. I do not have the original manufacturer's ID plate. Where do I look to find the serial number on the 4.2 liter engine, and the transmission? The vehical has been up on jack stands in my garage since 1986. I am planning to try and get the vehical operational during the Summer of 2014.
