Sellers comment:
The entire sports car world was amazed at the launch of the Jaguar E-type in March, 1961. Jaguar built this early coupe in January of 1962. It was delivered to a gentleman in the US Navy stationed in Italy. I purchased the car 2 years ago from a gentleman in Quebec, CA. It is a numbers matching (although I have not disassembled the transmission tunnel to check the gearbox number) Fixed-head coupe. It has the following identification numbers on the data plate (confirmed by a Jaguar Heritage Certificate): Car Number: 885587; Engine Number: R3844-9; Body Number: V1801; Gearbox Number: EB2967JS.

Vehicle Condition
The car is a strong driver, although could be brought into the concours level. Mechanically, the car is very strong. Recently replaced the plugs/points, rebuilt the SU's, new high performance Lucas coil, new brake master cylinder. The interior is in good shape, with no tears in the leather. The headliner/Visors are in very good original condition. Under the bonnet it is in very good condition with almost all-original components (the fan motor has been replaced). The exhaust manifolds still have some porcelain. It has a stainless steel exhaust, Koni Shocks, and many early components (round cross-section steering wheel, chrome wipers, dot pattern aluminum dash insert, etc). Exteriorly, the car is in good condition. Not a concours car, but certainly presentable. The paint has several defects (See photos). There are chips out of the paint on the nose, a scratch on the driver's side of the bonnet, a ding also on the driver's side of the bonnet, some pimpling of the paint midway down on the passenger's door, and some chips of paint around the gas tank flip lid and rear hatch. Having said all of this, the car is still a very presentable driver. The car comes with (4) Dayton wire wheels, as well as the original stoved aluminum wires (5 in total). It also comes with an additional set of coupe seat frames (purchased on ebay), as this car was apparently assembled with roadster seats.

Miscellaneous:
For the collector/enthusiast, the following items are included with the car (NOT FOR SALE OUTSIDE THIS AUCTION):

* Jaguar Wings Key
* Early Jaguar Wings key fob - Very Rare
* Earliest publication (1961) of the Service Manual (no print date)
* 1961 Premium Sales Brochure
* (2) Spare Parts Catalogues (1-Original, 1-Reproduction)
* May 1961 Car and Driver Magazine
* April 1961 MotorSport Magazine
* (3) Hickok Seatbelts (in need of restoration) - Very RARE
* Full 1964 Owner's Packet
* 1961 Operator's Manual

As you can see, this is a very early FHC with many unusual and original parts/accessories.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
