    Ebay item 11/12/04
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Opening bid $1,000.00 (Reserve not met), no bids yet, 9 days left in auction, buy it now price $29,500.

    Sellers description:
A Rarely available, Straight and Solid, Certified 2 owner XKE Series One Roadster with only 35,700 Actual Miles! I purchase this very clean E-type from the estate of an older Gentleman who was it's second owner. He purchased it in March of 1968 and simply treasured it an enjoyed it until his passing in 1998. In his later years althought not able to drive it much, he still treated and cared for it as the worthy and beautifull automotive Art that it is! As most Jaguar experts have already noticed, this car has a later series two bonnet on it and not it's original early covered headlight bonnet. This change came about in the later 1980's after "senior moment"(yeah were all going to have them eventually)when he stoped about 2 feet further than needed at at local intersection! No visable structue damage was incurred besides a minor kink in the "picture frame". The car was then "re-bonneted" with the only one found available in rural Indiana, and the car was then totally repainted at that time by whats appears to by a very competent bodyshop. The paint job has held up nicely after approx 15 years, but has chips, flaws and crazing evident under closer inspection.

The Black Leather interior is the original and complete, and as a aging "Surviver" is in very respectable condition in all respects, with great patina and cracking with a bit of a wear thru spot on the driver's backrest and a small hole in the passenger's seat cushion. The original Wilton Wool carpets are starting to show ther age and the horsehair/jut padding and insulation is starting to separte a bit. The consol is in very condition and still has it's original "RadioMobile" radio(unworking and missing a knob). All gauges appear to work, and read properly, and could use a bulb or two. The care and condition of this original interior bears witness to orginal miles claimed to me by the pevious owner's son!

Although I drove it home after purchasing it, Mechanically the car had some needs when I received it from setting and limited use over the previous 8-10 years. So, I replaced the deteriorated motor mounts with the upgraded replacements; replaced the original radiator, cooling fan, and over-flow tank with the very expensive upgraded Heavy Duty "Classic Jaguar" units with the high volume "Nascar" type electric cooling fan; fitted a NOS waterpump, belt, and all related heating and cooling hoses and clamps

    Vehicle Condition
-Does not have the original "covered headlight" bonnet, but is equipped with a later series two style, non-covered headlamp type!

-Better than average older paint with patina(approx 15 years old)that still shows very good when cleaned and waxed, but does have a few flaws, scratches, chips, and is starting to crack and craze in some spots!

-The original leather interior and wool carpets are 40 year old "Survivers" in very presentable and complete condition, but are showing some age and wear!

-Bumper, headlamp, and taillamp chrome condition range from better than average to poor, with some pitting and flaking in their plating!

-Windshield post, wiper blades/arms, morriors, door and top trim Stainless are all in excellent to good condition!

-Converible top is in a newer replacement in very nice shape. and has a great tight fit and a clear rear window!

Rear trunk bonnet, and both doors and windows have very good gaps and they fit and close as well as any that I have seen(most restored cars have bad door shutting and windows that hit the top frame)!!!

-The free Reving 3.8 Engine Starts easly when it's warm out, but is rather "Cold-Blooded" when temp gets below 40-50 degrees F. It's occasional back-fire when cold, seems to mean that it's triple chocke HD6 SU carbs need to be adjusted and set up exactly for both your Climate and Altitude! Engine runs smoothly and quitely(well kind of for "race car") when warmed-up, has great oil pressure and no excessive valve, chain, or rod noise! Rings are good and tight with with great compression and no noticable or excessive smoke or piston slop!

-Clutch and Hydraulics are great, and the original much maligned Early non-synro 1st gear transmission works as should and is quite and tight!
