This 1964 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on September 5, 1963, and distributed via Jaguar Cars of New York. The car was acquired by the current owner in 1985 and refurbished between 2017 and 2018 by Classic Showcase of Oceanside, California. Work included stripping the body, placing it on a rotisserie, and refinishing it in dark blue. The interior was re-trimmed in red upholstery, and the 3.8-liter inline-six along with the four-speed manual transmission, suspension, and brake system were overhauled. Equipment includes a blue soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, Wildwood front brake components, a stainless steel dual exhaust system, and a Motorola retro-look radio. This XKE is now offered by the seller on behalf of their father with a jack, manufacturer’s literature, refurbishment photos and records, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Florida title in the name of the seller’s father.
Finished from the factory in Opalescent Dark Green, the body was mounted to a rotisserie during the 2010s refurbishment and received bodywork before a repaint in Opalescent Dark Blue. The windshield and various trim pieces were replaced at that time, while a blue soft top with a matching boot was installed. Further exterior details include recessed headlights with clear covers, split chrome-finished bumpers, a louvered forward-hinged hood, a left mirror, a cowl-mounted antenna, and triple windshield wipers. The taillights are mounted above the rear bumpers, where corrosion is noted by the seller.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via two-eared knock-off spinners and wear 195/75 American Classic Radial wide-whitewall tires, while a full-size spare is stored in the trunk compartment. The car is equipped with a fully independent suspension, which was overhauled during the refurbishment. Stopping power is provided by a refreshed four-wheel disc brake system that utilizes Wilwood front calipers and inboard-mounted rear discs.
The reupholstered interior features replacement low-back buckets seats trimmed in red leather and accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and Hardura carpets. Textured aluminum adorns the center stack and auxiliary instrument surround, while black floor mats with red piping cover the footwells. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and additional appointments include a sliding rear-view mirror as well as a Motorola retro-look radio equipped with an auxiliary cord and linked to speakers mounted on each side of the center stack. The armrests and center console have been removed.
The refreshed wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts overhauled Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges are housed in the center stack above a row of toggle switches for vehicle functions. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, approximately 50k of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that 2,500 miles have been added following the refurbishment.
The 4.2-liter inline-six was rebuilt by Classic Showcase as part of the refurbishment and is equipped with overhauled triple SU side-draft carburetors and polished valve covers. A replacement radiator, alternator, and battery kill switch have been installed.
Cylinder head stamping RA3479-9 is shown above and listed on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate as the engine number.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission that was overhauled during the refurbishment. The steering rack and column were also rebuilt along with the differential. Rust repairs were performed on the frame rails at that time, and a replacement stainless-steel dual exhaust system was also installed.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
