My husband has had this car since around 1970, he recently died and I need to re register it to sell. It has been in storage for 20 odd years. Problem is i can't find where the VIN # is stamped on the car. Do I have to completely remove the hood (bonnet) to find it?

This obviously is a XK120 Drophead coupe having entered the XKE data base. Can someone tell Barbara where to find the VIN plate, as I am not familiar enough with XKs?

This is correctly listed here as LHD E-TYPE 3.8 roadster 879070. The XK-120 DHC numbers Bill refers to above were from another car previously in the same ownership, and were entered in error. This E-type has now changed hands and will be restored.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
