Car to be at auction 6/12
www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm

Auction description:
1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-Liter Roadster
Chassis No. 878978
• Desirable Series I E-Type with covered headlights
• Photo-documented rotisserie restoration in 2008
• Driven only 600 miles since restoration
• Jaguar Heritage Certificate and original tool roll included

Completed on January 28, 1963, this left-hand drive E-Type was dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York on February 7, 1963, and its first owner was T. J. Mattoen of New York. Having received a complete rotisserie restoration in 2008 by marque specialists, it has traveled just 600 careful miles since. It is a numbers-matching example, as confirmed by its Jaguar Heritage Certificate. Complete with its original tool roll with Metallifacture jack and new hammer, over $100,000 has been spent on the restoration, including an engine, transmission, rear end, and suspension rebuild. Resplendent in its as-born colors of cream over red hides with contrasting black hood, the car makes for an understated yet elegant presentation, appropriately highlighted by chrome wire wheels with knock-off spinners. Driving upgrades include a gear reduction starter, aluminum radiator, and spin-on oil filter. The original oil filter, radiator shroud, bonnet screen, and starter are included with the car.

Ebay item 8/5/12
MotorCarTrader.com is proudly offering this exceptional 1963 Jaguar E-type Series I Roadster. This great Jaguar was fully restored by marque specialists from the ground up including an engine and full mechanical rebuild. Everything has been restored or is new. The restoration of this E-type was completed in 2008. Only 544 careful miles have been placed on this car since completion and on the engine. All restoration receipts and invoices are available with the car in excess of $100,000 invested. In addition, there is photo documentation of the body, interior and mechanical restoration of this great car. It was finished in its original color combination of Cream with Red interior. There is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate to confirm all numbers and original color. All numbers match on this car (the data plate, body tag in boot or trunk, number stamped on front frame, Transmission number, engine number on block and on head). Originally, this car manufactured on January 23 of 1963. The date of dispatch was February 7, 1963 to Mr. TJ Mattoen of Poughkeepsie, NY USA.

This exquisite Jaguar looks beautiful, but mechanically it is very strong as well. The engine was completely rebuilt, as well as all mechanicals. The car runs great, as to be expected on a freshly rebuilt engine with under 600 miles on it. The compression across all 6 cylinders is as follows: #1-180 psi, #2-180, #3-175, #4-180, #5-180, #6-180. The oil pressure at idle (Hot) is 40 pounds. A few driving upgrades were done to this car for better reliability. These include an aluminum radiator with auxiliary fan for better cooling, a gear reduction starter, and spin on oil filter. The original starter, fan shroud, and oil filter housing are included with the car. Furthermore included with this car, is the original and complete tool kit, original Metallifacture jack, and knock off hammer.

To elaborate on the condition of this car:

Paint/body: The paint is excellent on this car and looks brand new. It is truly stunning with the red interior.

Chrome: All the chrome has been redone and looks exceptional.

Interior/Soft top: The interior is brand new and shows minimal wear. It really has not been driven much since it was completed. The original Motorola radio does work. Everything does work on the car including all lights and switches. The soft top and tonneau cover are new as well. The tonneau cover has elegant red piping to match the interior color. The underside of the soft top and top frame are all very clean and again look new.

Wheels/Tires: The Pirelli tires are new and the spare wheel has a new tire as well. The chrome wire wheels and knock offs are all new and look perfect.

Underside/floors: The underside and floors are excellent. The floors were replaced and there are no dents on them. No rust underneath this car anywhere. The frame rails in the front of the car are all body color and straight. All suspension pieces are nicely painted. The rear end or rear suspension was also taken apart and rebuild as well. It has also was painted and detailed, so it looks new and exceptional. New shocks and bushings were installed. The newer exhaust has been painted with brand new exhaust tips and also as can been seen in the picture newer porcelain exhaust manifolds installed.

Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is absolutely gorgeous on this car. It is extremely clean showing hardly any wear as can be seen in pictures.

Spare tire compartment: The spare tire compartment is clean. It shows some small marks from the spare tire (white shows everything), but overall is very clean. Both side area in the boot compartment are clean as well. The original body tag on the driver side in the boot area, matches the heritage certificate.

Overall: This is an exceptional Jaguar Series I E-type Roadster. It went through a complete and documented restoration with minimal miles placed on the car since. It is certainly one of the nicer Jaguar E-type Roadsters on the market today. This Jaguar is a great investment quality Jaguar that can be taken to shows and enjoyed to be driven as well.

The numbers (all matching) on this 1963 Jaguar E-type Series I 3.8 Roadster are as follows :
Chassis Number: 878978
Engine Number: RA 1010-9
Body number: R 5631
Gearbox number: EB 9028JS

This automobile is available for inspection in Cornelius, NC
