    Sellers comment:

The car on offer is a fabulous, ground up nut & bolt concours level restoration and is truly one of the finest XKE's on the market. The Carmen red paintwork done to the highest standard, and is simply exquisite. The interior has been correctly restored with beautiful biscuit leather, and the dash has been completely restored as well. The car is also fitted with a new black canvas soft top and matching boot. The trunk is fully detailed and even includes a very rare original tool set with restored tools. Mechanically the car is in fine form. Every component on the car has been refurbished; please see the photos of the engine compartment and the undercarriage. The engine is the correct 3.8 matching number motor. Driving this car is like driving a new E-Type in 1963, except that this car has even higher levels of fit and finish than it did when new.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
